JB PRITZKER’S EXTREME ANTI-GUN RECORD

Throughout his public life, Pritzker has shown a sustained hostility to gun rights, particularly regarding handguns:

  • When he ran for Congress in 1997, Pritzker called for a 100 percent tax on handguns and handgun ammunition, which he estimated would raise $1 billion a year. (Scott Fornek, “Pritzker, In First Political Run, Vows He Can 'Get The Job Done',” Chicago Sun-Times, 9/7/97)
  • In the same campaign, he even favored banning the sale of handguns entirely. (Susan Dodge, “Candidates Hit Trail To Congress,” Chicago Sun-Times, 2/22/98)

In his campaign for governor, Pritzker has been a vocal supporter of banning certain firearms and accessories.

  • He supports banning the sale of so-called assault weapons and high capacity magazines. (JB Pritzker Website)

Pritzker supports onerous regulations that would hurt small gun shops and law-abiding gun owners.

Pritzker’s activism against Second Amendment rights earned him recognition from anti-gun groups:

  • In 2005, Pritzker Received The Citizen Advocacy Award From The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. (Press Release, “Sen. Ted Kennedy To Receive Distinguished 'Lincoln Award' From Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence At Nov. 7 Awards Dinner,” Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, 11/7/2005)
  • Pritzker once served as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. (“Morning Spin: Pritzker Boasts Of Poshard Backing, But They're A Political Odd Couple,” Chicago Tribune, 9/25/17)

Pritzker is a big-money funder of state and national gun control groups:

  • He has contributed $101,000 to gun control groups through his foundation. (IRS Form 990-PF, Pritzker Family Foundation, 2002-2009)
    • He gave $76,000 to the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence From 2002-2009.
    • He gave $25,000 to the Brady Center To Prevent Gun Violence In 2003.

I’m voting for Rauner. I encourage all to do likewise no matter what you think of him. This is not the time to make a stand on other moral grounds. You don’t vote for Rauner and we get Pritzker.

Hey, we agree on something! :)

Quoted from OP Molly's quote from a friend:

"Pritzker is a big-money funder of state and national gun control groups"

Well, ya just gotta love it when a 1.5x Billionaire is a "big money funder." Over 7 YEARS the clown gave $101,000 through his foundation. Oh how generous, how supportive!

Here's the math: $100K from a guy with $1.5Billion = [is the equivalent of]

10k " " " 150Million =

1k 15M =

$100 1.5M =

So this is the equivalent of a 1 1/2x millionaire (i.e., net worth $1,500,000) giving $100 to a big time cause. Spread over 7 years.

Yeah, it really helps to start with a Billion dollar inheritance, but is anyone impressed?

We need to pony up our time, our effort, and OUR MONEY, real money, to fight for our cause.

For the fence-sitting republicans who test the political climate by what they see on the news, campaign contributions are a proven way to get your concerns taken seriously.

Its one thing to fill out witness slips, and phone your state senator or representative, its another thing entirely to have given a campaign contribution.

Jabba will be almost as bad if not worse than Moonbeam in his 'progressive' stances. First state to have single payer health care when we are more than broke? Guess who is going to pay for that..................? Free daycare for everyone.......guess who is going to pay for that......................? Keep the pension crisis here alive and well............guess who is already paying for that.............................? Progressive income tax..................guess who is going to pay MORE for that.............?

I hope and pray this ding-a-ling does not get anywhere near the gov's mansion next year. Rauner may not be the perfect candidate, has there ever been a perfect candidate? Did he make some major mistakes in his first term? He sure did! I will vote for him because he is not the worst candidate by far and has his fiscal goals which are realistic and not pandering or promising what cannot be even remotely possible.

Lastly, the first screen for any candidate I have is the 2nd Amendment and their views on that, Rauner passes that one pretty well where as Jumbo does not even come close. Next is the honesty portion.........yeah I know what you are thinking....anyone running for office is not honest or can be trusted. Well............Rauner may not be the white as snow type but he more honest than Jelly Boy by a large belly!

Vote, support, campaign for Rauner..................your 2A rights are in the breech!

JB is a political wannabe, who inherited (NOT earned) his money and isn't smart enough to stay OFF Federal wiretaps.

Madigan will roll out this doughboy and tie him in so many knots he'll WISH he was a pretzel.

A++++++ Wow, what a visual!

Regardless if we like or do not like Rauner, the alternative is anything but desirable for 2A rights in this state. We need to get behind Rauner solidly. I don't like the guy but he sure is better than the alternative. If we support him like we did the first go around, he can win. I am not sure the city and state, outside of the political class, are really that pumped up to vote. Let's hope many on the left stay home and we come out in force.

He will be our next nightmare..... :ermm:

The hot dog eating champion has been campaigning or almost 2yrs. Besides Cook, I truly believe he's gonna actually have to buy each and every vote needed to win all of the collar counties.

Rauner hasn't even gone full on. Barely did during the primary. Think you're sick of the almost 2 yrs of constant JB ads? Hopefully the amount of Rauner's ads make what JB's done or will do look like nothing in October.

Hopefully we see some pro gun ads, more on how JB is a tax cheat, and some more dirty stuff besides just the current Blago tapes.

This state is screwed.

Republicans have been going turn coat, democrats are slowly winning seats. Also down state democrats are starting to vote along party lines now. It is very disheartening.

Ended up selling quite a few things and converting my wonder nines to 45ACP Firearms. Also picked up a few shotguns.

My AR and it's mags had an unfortunate boating accident out of state however.

The strategy to beat JB is to get those who voted against him in the primary to either stay home or vote for Rauner. Just like the never Trumpers, there are democrats that would never vote JB, but might just to screw Rauner. Keep them home and we might have a shot. JB has plenty of baggage (and not just what’s in his gut)

This is not the time to make a stand on other moral grounds.

When will it be? When will it be time to take a moral stance? When it doesn't matter?

I'm sorry, I WILL NOT vote for a man that uses my money to murder babies. End of story. Come get my guns, JB. Bring it.

Hate to tell you this, but what do you think JB is going to do with your tax dollars?

Oh my. This guy is a slob nobody. He needs meds and after that he will be late for making America great again. Winning. No matter what happens in Illinois Gov race, that loser will cry about the national election in November. One less vote for Phizzer.

Do you understand what you're doing? Do you think Pritzer won't sign (and campaign for) every abortion bill with a smile on his face while pontificating why more abortion is better? There is not a single space where Rauner is worse than JB. And the state will eventually come and get your guns. They will just wait for an excuse. What about the Firefighter in Cook County whose life they are now ruining? That will be the whole state in a few years w/ JB in charge.

Why do people keep on shooting themselves in the foot with a shotgun by refusing to vote for a RINO in a general election when the opponent is a full-on left-wing anti-freedom, 2a-hating, authoritarian tyrant who will tax us all into oblivion while taking away all our rights?

Rauner made a poor decision on that bill. It was wrong both morally and politically. But Rauner has made some really good decisions too! JB will make the worst decision every single time. I would bet that if he wins, you won't find even one case in 4 years where JB will make a call you agree with. Why would you help someone like that get elected?
