mauserme Posted February 21, 2014 at 12:07 AM Author Share Posted February 21, 2014 at 12:07 AM Thanks Lanny. I gave you SB5601 - SB5800. If you haven't already, take a look at the list of Spring Session Bills we're watching. You'll notice that sometimes spotting important bills is as easy as the inclusion of the term "concealed carry". With others, there are nuances that depend on the ability to draw inferences Use the search function if you want, but don't rely on it exclusively. When in doubt ask, or post it up and I'll take a look.

mauserme Posted February 21, 2014 at 04:28 AM Author Share Posted February 21, 2014 at 04:28 AM I should have been a little more specific. There's a difference between bills filed in the House and those in the Senate Since your group begins with SB they will be Senate bills when they're filed, but neither group has bills filed as high as I've assigned them yet. Check this page from time to time to see what's been filed. It's going to be a while before we get to the highest numbers assigned.

MillieH Posted March 18, 2014 at 09:18 PM Share Posted March 18, 2014 at 09:18 PM I was looking at some of these bills. Some of them say 'Amends' or 'Makes a technical change'Then when I click on the section of the law, there is a description. How can you tell exactly what it is that someone wants to change? How can I compare the current law with the proposed new changes?
mauserme Posted March 18, 2014 at 09:41 PM Author Share Posted March 18, 2014 at 09:41 PM The bill will quote the section of law it proposes to change, with new language underlined and language being removed struck through. For example, if we wanted to change the renewal procedures in the FCCA to make a renewal license valid for the life of the applicant, and remove all other requirements, it might look like this. Section 50. License renewal. Applications for renewal of a license shall be made to theDepartment. A license shall be renewed for the life of the applicanta period of 5 years upon receipt of a completed renewal application.completion of 3 hours of training required under Section 75 of this Section, payment of the applicable renewal fee, and completion of an investigationunder Section 35 of this Act. The renewal application shall contain theinformation required in Section 30 of this Act, except that the applicantneed not resubmit a full set of fingerprints. The original language was: Section 50. License renewal. Applications for renewal of a license shall be made to theDepartment. A license shall be renewed for a period of 5 yearsupon receipt of a completed renewal application, completion of3 hours of training required under Section 75 of this Section, payment of the applicable renewal fee, and completion of aninvestigation under Section 35 of this Act. The renewalapplication shall contain the information required in Section30 of this Act, except that the applicant need not resubmit afull set of fingerprints. The description you see on the status page is a recap that may or may not completely describe all the changes You need to click the "Full Text" link toward the top of the page in order to really see what's going on.
