UpperAtmosphere Posted November 1, 2017 at 08:59 PM Share Posted November 1, 2017 at 08:59 PM My FOID card expires in just under a year at this point, and out of idle curiosity (and "ha ha they take forever, maybe I should do this now") I logged into the ISP site to check on the renewal process. I see my FOID and my CCL both listed, both have "renew" buttons that are faded out and I see a "no" symbol when I put the cursor on them. I get the CCL button not being active, do I have to be within a certain range of the expiration before the FOID renewal button lights up? I had checked in the summer and thought maybe it was 365 days, but obviously not.
mic6010 Posted November 1, 2017 at 09:06 PM Share Posted November 1, 2017 at 09:06 PM I don't know the specific answer but I would imagine you should check back a couple months out of the expiration and keep on checking back in regularly until you can do it. Glock23 Posted November 1, 2017 at 10:40 PM Share Posted November 1, 2017 at 10:40 PM Maybe do an inspect element on the button... look at the code and see if it's referencing a date somewhere.
InterestedBystander Posted November 2, 2017 at 12:19 AM Share Posted November 2, 2017 at 12:19 AM When they were sending out renewals, it was based on a 60 day notice. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=1657 (430 ILCS 65/13.2) (from Ch. 38, par. 83-13.2) Sec. 13.2. The Department of State Police shall, 60 days prior to the expiration of a Firearm Owner's Identification Card, forward by first class mail to each person whose card is to expire a notification of the expiration of the card and an application which may be used to apply for renewal of the card. Xwing Posted November 2, 2017 at 02:51 PM Share Posted November 2, 2017 at 02:51 PM I have the same question. Mine expires in 364 days. If you find the real answer, please post it. 60 days is a good guess. But given how slow the ISP can be, I'd like a little more contingency... Tango7 Posted November 2, 2017 at 10:04 PM Share Posted November 2, 2017 at 10:04 PM A customer of mine lost his wallet - with his FOID in it. I helped him with the online portal (he has no clue about posting pictures), and he called a week later to ask the status. They told him at least 30 days, probably because the NICS check they run on all of us every single day isn't enough, you know...
