knol Posted December 4, 2020 at 12:11 AM Share Posted December 4, 2020 at 12:11 AM Hi all, I'm new to this group so please excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong place. I applied for my first time FOID card on June 2nd and it's still under review on December 3rd. I'm so frustrated! I was able to get through on their phone line in Sept before they stopped taking calls and was told that it had already passed my drivers license match but still had to go through the background check. I understand they have delays this year but what the heck? I have no arrests, nothing that would get in the way legally. Anyway, if anyone is experiencing any similar waits or has any words of advice, please let me know. I appreciate it! Kathy
Raw Power Posted December 4, 2020 at 12:34 AM Share Posted December 4, 2020 at 12:34 AM Waits of 180 days aren't unusual right now, unfortunately. There are multiple lawsuits over this but unfortunately, Covid is slowing the process down on all sides. https://bearingarms.com/cam-e/2020/10/14/illinois-lawsuits-foid-card-delays/

Chinto Posted December 4, 2020 at 05:16 PM Share Posted December 4, 2020 at 05:16 PM You are not alone in this bureaucratic mess. I submitted my renewal on June 4th and as of today am still under review. I realize your applying for the first time which makes this needless delay even more painful for you but hang in there. The second 6 months should get it processed.

Q. I submitted a FOID/CCL application last month. How long is this going to take? A. Because of the executive order and emergency administrative rules, new applications are being processed ahead of renewals, but you should expect CONSIDERABLE delays in all cases. Like all entities, our normal operations have been impacted by COVID-19. What someone has access to matters not in processing and BGC for FOID + CCL

tcstoner Posted December 27, 2020 at 05:06 AM Share Posted December 27, 2020 at 05:06 AM Moved to Illinois in July 2020. Applied for initial FOID on 7/28/20. In two days it will be 150 days (5 months). Spotless record, no MH issues. Called ISP 2 weeks ago, they said it was moving through the process. No other information given except they did acknowledge they were using the 7/28/20 date as FOID application date. I asked because I also applied for CCL with fingerprints on 9/14/20. Contacted State Rep and sent ISP an email this week. Awaiting reply. You'd think fingerprints would help and speed things along.
Crowded_6 Posted January 17, 2021 at 08:11 PM Share Posted January 17, 2021 at 08:11 PM Waiting Since June 16, 2020...... So I contacted Sen Mike Bost who got back to me pretty quick and said to contact my local state reps, which I did. Sen Christopher Belt and Rep Latoya Greenwood. Sen Belt has yet to respond and Rep Latoya Greenwood got back to me the next day and asked for my info and that they said they would send an inquiry to ISP. I sent that in and still waiting. I've called ISP but couldn't reach anyone. This is crazy. I lived in Mass. in 2013 and waited 4 months for a conceal carry permit. This State is crazy!!! My next move is to contact FPC and see what they say.
