Gov. Andrew Cuomo Has Not Yet Accepted Remington's Offer to Help With PPE, Ventilators

Gun manufacturer Remington recently offered the state of New York use of their facilities to help with crucially needed medical supplies for healthcare workers on the frontlines battling the Wuhan coronavirus. The state government has yet to accept Remington's offer.

New York, and New York City in particular, has been hit hard by COVID-19. As of Thursday, the city has 47,439 confirmed coronavirus cases and 1,374 deaths. Since New York has been an early hotspot, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has highlighted the state's need for personal protective equipment and medical equipment, such as ventilators.

People have noticed that during his daily televised demands for PPE, he has a mountain of PPE right behind him.

Boxes and boxes of masks, gloves, etc. sitting there behind him.

It is possible that they are empty boxes placed there for dramatic effect and that the devices have already been distributed.

As far as working with Remington: It is not like Remington has experience in manufacturing precision equipment that can operate under various conditions.

So true. Those evil gun companies have never helped out to produce needed goods during a time of crisis. Rockola, Smith-Corona, GM (Inland) are prime examples......

To those unaware, they were companies that started producing M1 carbines and other firearms during WW2, but prior to WW2 did not produce firearms. They helped out in a time of need, much like some gun companies are doing now that are offering to produce medical equipment

"The Best way to Ventilate a Democratik Socialist is With a Remington!"

"Conservative ventilators are rated by CFM. Leftist ventilators are rated by FPS. And they come from the same factory!"

"DON'T wait for Cuomo, fire up the production lines now! Then when you have millions of N95 masks and thousands of ventilators, send them to states who want to buy them. FWIW, please emboss your products: A Remington Saved my Life!"

"Cuomo probably won't let them reopen, as they've already been declared non-essential and forcibly shut down."

The only thing that would surprise me these days is if a Democrat did something that did not have their political agenda as a primary consideration. These people are sick in the head. I can't even stand to watch our governor's daily briefings on the current situation because lardo uses it as an opportunity to bash and blame Trump.

Give it up, Jelly Belly; you have 0 chance of being elected president in the future.

Versacarry, out of TX, is also converting to produce PPE

https://www.ammoland.com/2020/04/versacarry-converts-production-facility-to-make-masks-and-face-shields/

...In an effort to help with the fight against the COVID-19 virus that continues to affect thousands of people across the United States, Versacarry is in the process of converting their production facility from building holsters to producing face shields and face masks...

...In less than a week, Versacarry has switched their focus and production and will be shipping face masks and face shields shortly. With weekly output expected at 20,000+ of each item, these will be sent to the front line of this pandemic war and into the hands of hospital personnel, EMT, police officers, firefighters and others facing the COVID-19 virus on a daily basis...

Since there aren't many teams that are capable of having the know how of building ventilators, and of those that do, they are already doing so.

Remington didn't offer to make PPE or ventilators. They only offered space that someone else could use to make them. It was more of a PR move than an actual offer of something useful.
If there were teams of people capable of running the assembly of said items and actually had all the stock of materials to do so and no place to work from, then you'd have a story.

But this is a non story.
