I've been a big fan of KurSchlichter, who writes a column for TownHall Daily (well worth signing up for their free daily newsletter, which comes from a Jonathan Garthwaite almost every day). He mercilessly rips apart liberals and their idiocies, and does so with human, intelligence, and sarcasm. And while I virtually always agree with his views, I did not often re-post his column on social media sites for the elucidation of my liberal Facebook "friends" because his tone was so scornful, as if there is no point at all trying to convince the Left of anything so we might as well just ridicule them. But after actually reading some of the more virulent Left wing Facebook pages like "Impeach Trump, Impeach Pence, Keep Impeaching" I am convinced that Schlichter is right: there is no point in even trying to change the minds of the Left wing radicals. Reading their comments, where everything Trump does or might have done, or says, or even might have said is twisted into some delusional world of Right wing facism in their minds. They scream about Trump "separating children" from their families, and then when Trump caves and says this will no longer happen, they don't miss a beat in calling Trump the new Hitler, and now are demanding the actual doing away with any mechanisms to control illegal immigration in any way. I previously have tried, without any success, to use logic AND emotion in trying to get my Leftist family members and old friends to see the side of those who support the 2nd Amendment. But now, with my efforts extended into the subjects of illegal immigration, the role of the Courts, the evils and failures of socialism, etc, etc, and seeing the total craziness of these people I have come around to my full agreement with not even trying. It is fun to goad these people, and to try to make them feel foolish and impotent in their efforts to take away our gun rights, destroy President Trump, to stop the further move to the Right of the Supreme Court, etc. And since Mr. Schlichter is so good with his use of language in achieving this ridicule and goading, I think I will routinely now "share" his columns with people who would never otherwise even be exposed to them. Of course they will not really read them, but even if they scan the first few sentences it should be enough to raise their blood pressure.

Ridicule and goading is never productive.

Kurt is very entertaining and a good writer with a wicked sense of humor, oft times with a good point, but as you say not weak tea to offer to those who do not already agree. I think the most effective thing out there to offer, (that people might find persuasive to considering a different less progressive and/or post modern liberal point of view), is the walkaway video and many of the subsequent videos in response, started by a white gay hair dresser who talks about finally choosing to walk away from the democratic party as he finally found it too hateful, judgmental, and divisive.
