Maybe I overlooked it, but I saw no confirmation in the article that the Governor actually suspended him yet...

Exactly, there are just calls for suspension. Not action

If the guy is referring to what he's done as "amazing leadership" then he's not just a lousy sheriff, he's completely delusional. As in, he shouldn't be allowed to own firearms.

So he claims he can't be held responsible for stuff he didn't know his police officers were doing.

Isn't knowing what your people are doing a big part of your job, certainly is mine.

Oh and I forgot to add... that's a pile of hooey.

If a Gov can suspen a Sheriff, can we get our Gov to solve our Cook County problem?

Lets not forget the school...

This message was written on a wall in a middle school bathroom, one of three shooting threats the district received.

Kind of hard to act on that threat since there is no way to know who wrote it.  Now a days you can't even assume the sex of the person based on which bathroom the warning was posted in.

Being he was specifically identified elsewhere and reported to the school perhaps they might have considered they had a problem

However I'm not sure what they really do since "threats" were listed specifically in the contract the school board had with the police that students couldn't be arrested for.

Also the same county where some of the 9/11 attackers were staying, and just so happens to be Debbie Wassermen-Shultz district. Move along, nothing to see here.

but but but the sheriff is the highest ranking official in his jurisdiction

Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, 60 rounds powder and ball and be ready to march at a minute's warning

It's not easy.  Don't think they can force him to resign, only remove him possibly.

Without a conviction, nearly impossible in IL it seems.

Recall in IL is only available for the governor and Buffalo Grove city officials from what I can find so far.

https://www.local10....itical-campaign

I'm hearing rumors that this investigation is still open and gaining traction. Scott Israel is accused of using the Sheriff's office for official campaign purposes including uniformed officers on the clock.

The initial accusers complained that resources were taken from community safety. Now after the botched Parkland thing their point is even more clear.

http://www.sun-senti...0827-story.html and some hires that were accused of being political favors.
