aerxx Posted September 5, 2013 at 10:34 PM Share Posted September 5, 2013 at 10:34 PM I'm looking for a small and decently priced range bag, I want it to be able to hold about 200 rounds of ammo, 2 pistols and safety equipment. (muffs, eye glasses, etc) Walmart used to carry one, but it seems the quality has gotten worse, and the bag is smaller. Any Suggestions?

Marie Posted September 6, 2013 at 12:46 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 12:46 AM The MidwayUSA compact bag is large to me. The large size has to be huge! The compact is 16" long and the large is 22" long.
TyGuy Posted September 6, 2013 at 01:51 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 01:51 AM My wife has the compact, and I have the normal one. The compact isn't worth it to ME, but I like leaving my range bag loaded with supplies. Just add firearm and ammo,

BradS Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:17 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:17 AM Sears Craftsman toolbag. They used to sell a two bag set, one bag smaller than the other, all for like $18. I have the old style Dillon bag, and the large Shooter's Connection tournament style bag. They are both black. I'd rather have a bag that doesn't shout "GUN!" And I was thinking about going the route of buying a tool bag to use, but the ones I have found don't really have pockets that are sized right for shooting gear, plus they're are a little bit too utilitarian for my taste. I do however know a buddy of mine that uses an easton bat bag to transport his AR in.
03rev Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:40 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:40 AM I have the smaller Springfield armory bag without the center insert. It does everything I need it to do..
Hoffsoft Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:43 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:43 AM It's not cheap, but consider a Maxpedition Fleigerduffel. It's built like a tank, you can use it as a rest and not burn it up. Or my kid can, at least. Bombproof.
spu69 Posted September 6, 2013 at 03:00 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 03:00 AM I use a Craftsman Cordless drill bag that I got for christmas with a drill, two batteries, and a charger in it back in 1990. The drill lasted 13 years, but now the bag transports firearms and ammo on the down-low.

The match was over and we were gathered under a pavillion as the plaques and raffle prizes were being handed out. Just about everybody left their range bags out on the lawn so we could get in closer and hear the match director. All the bags were black, including mine. Eeeeekkk!!! Ashes Posted September 6, 2013 at 07:08 AM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 07:08 AM I just use my old EastPack backpack from my high school days...I can fit 200 rounds of 9mm, 200 rounds of .22, 2 pistols, hearing protection, cleaning kit, paper targets, target hanger all in there. I do use the fabric pistol cases instead of hard sided pistol cases as I can only fit one hard sided case in that backpack.
Indigo Posted September 6, 2013 at 03:11 PM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 03:11 PM Tool bags make great range bags. Lots of slots and compartments, built to take abuse, usually can be locked with a padlock. Menards has several different models for low prices, and usually some are on sale. One of the nice things about using a tool bag as a range bag is that they usually have a trim color, and they look like you are going out to fix something, rather than going out to shoot something. It's easier to pick out your tool bag from everybody else's range bag, and you can walk out to your car past a cop without having him even raise an eyebrow. All he sees is the "Craftsman" or "DeWalt" on the bag.
Drylok Posted September 6, 2013 at 03:31 PM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 03:31 PM I just convert my field bag I use during hunting season over to a range bag for the shooting season. That may change though if we're going to start doing classes in the winter.

Great deal for the price and built to last. Midway Bags its looking like. I really like this bag Double-J. Good price too. Sent on the move..... I have this bag and like it quite a bit. Three (maybe four) of these bags fit the main compartment perfectly: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939160870/midwayusa-tactical-pistol-case?cm_vc=sugv1939167522 The only thing I would change on this bag is to make the end pockets "larger" so they stick out like the side pockets. They would then be the perfect place to carry ammo or muffs... as is they are just flush zippered pockets. I throw small junk in there like a pocket knife, ear plugs, etc. and put ammo and muffs in the sides. (not shown in the above picture.)
Mr_Rich Posted September 6, 2013 at 04:00 PM Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 04:00 PM I have a few bags but this is the bag I'm using the most. http://ghostpanda.com/images/rangebag.png LA Police Gear has it on sale with the pistol bag for $38.99: http://www.lapoliceg...ge-bag-kit.html I found it is large enough and still doesn't get too heavy with a couple of pistols and a few hundred rounds of ammo. aerxx Posted September 6, 2013 at 04:02 PM Author Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 04:02 PM I've been looking closer at the MIdwayUSA bags and pretty much all of them get great reviews. drumgod, would you have pictures of the inside of one of the tactical pistol cases? Marie Posted September 7, 2013 at 02:20 AM Share Posted September 7, 2013 at 02:20 AM The Midway bags don't scream GUN to me. It's got the MidwayUSA name on the side, in white, but unless you're into guns, I don't think the general public would give a second look at one of the black ones. Now, the ones with all the little pockets that look like military gear? Those DO scream gun to me.
