It is that time of year again! Our 8th annual Bullpup Shoot will be held at The Site Training in Mount Carroll, Illinois from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, Sept. 9th.

The event is FREE to enter! Bring your own gun and shoot on our open range on steel targets provided by us with RSO's to keep everything running smoothly (please no steel core or AP ammo)

Try out full auto , suppressed, belt fed, and YES .50 cal weapons this year! We have at least one and possibly two Barret M82's scheduled to be at the range!

Take a ride on our Jurassic Park or Military Themed shuttle jeeps, and check out the 20+ Vendors that will be there!

Once again, this event is underwritten by us so it is totally free to you! It is our way of giving back to the community.

Food available onsite, as will be ammo for purchase (cash recommended as credit card service can be spotty at times) and kids and family are welcome! Demo weapons will have a charge simply to cover the cost of ammo consumed.

And yes, kids can shoot demo guns too! (must be 18 or over to fire full auto per our insurance underwriters, and at the discretion of the RSO's and demo gun suppliers for safety/controlability of course!)

Visit the website for full details, directions, and more information at http://www.bullpupshoot.com

As long as work doesnt interfere Ill be there again this year with a bullpup saiga12.

We are there! Not missing a chance to shoot belt fed stuff and 50 cal for the first time, and both just 2 hours away. We booked a room for Saturday night to check out the town. I realize it's a small town but, If anyone could chime in on places to eat and a watering hole it would be much appreciated!

Windermere...If youre looking for something to do in the area after the range, check out Ravens Grinn Inn. Its definitely a...well...um...interesting place. http://www.hauntedravensgrin.com/

Stupid typo on my part, it is on Sept 9th (sorry, I can't edit the title for whatever reason)

Sorry for any confusion!

Initial posts have edit capability for a short time, like 10 minutes or so, then you need to be a supporting member to edit. Maybe try PMing a mod and ask about them changing the title for you.

Sievert's Steaks 'n' Stuff is downtown Mt. Carroll. They have steaks, sea food and pizza. There is also a Diary Queen there. Land of Oz convenience store also has fast food. Savanna, IL , just ten miles away, has more choices. Should you decide you need a great, bar burger, go downtown and find Hawg Dogs. The Iron Horse Social Club, just a few doors away, is a bar open to everyone that has a fantastic collection of antique motorcycles, several which are supremely restored board track racers. Tell them Buzz sent you.

A.O. Elliott is a newly opened wine bar across the street with a very nice atmosphere and has a deck out back. If you're lucky, you may see the riverboat plying the Mississippi River. Nearby, Manny's Pizza serves their locally famous thin crust pizza. Savanna is also home to Poopy's Biker Bar. The burgers there are also good, but expect to pay more than at Hawg Dogs. There are rooms for rent at The Iron Horse Social Club and accommodations can also be made at the L&M Motel. Savanna also has the Savanna Inn and Suites with a nearby McDonalds for those so inclined.

I hope this has helped. I may see you there.

I went last year and had a blast. Fulfilled one of my bucket list items. Thompson on full auto. :D

Then spent an hour on the range with my own guns.

Now I KNOW I'll be there! Can you supply your own ammo?

If you bring your own guns and shoot on the open range, yes. But not for the gun they provide like Tavor's, M16's, Thompson's, etc. You must buy theirs but it's not *too* expensive.

I can deal with that and I see their position. I sure wouldn't want to be the guy shooting someone's full auto Thompson when/if it decided to grenade itself and it was being fed MY ammo at that moment. If they're gracious and generous enough to allow me to operate their equipment, I will abide by any rules they impose for the privilege!

Conceal Carry of pistols is fine. All we ask is no holster draws to shoot at the open shoot bay.

You can openly carry a longarm as long as it is slung and unloaded with a chamber flag. This isn't so people can "cowboy" around the event, it is so people don't have to lug them around in range bags since the range and the Vendor area is split.

Basically just use common sense and follow the standard rules of gun safety- you are gun owners, act responsibly and we don't have to have draconion rules on site.

As long as everybody is responsible then we can continue the above policies and be free in our ability to carry arms at the event. :)

JC Arms and ammunition will have ammo for sale in common calibers.

Demo guns will use ammo supplied by the demo gun provide, you cannot shoot your own ammo through demo guns (unfortunately people want to use the cheapest ammo and crappiest reloads they have when shooting someone else's gun, and then damage/destroy expensive machineguns in the process).

No steel core or AP ammo. If punches holes in our targets and can ricochet. If you are caught shooting AP/steel core at our targets you will have to pay us for the damaged target which we can no longer use and will be escorted off the property.

Yes, we are very serious about this- don't break our property and don't risk injuring others and we will be all hunky dory and best friends with you. ;)

The wife and I had a good time at the event! I can check "shooting a full auto Thompson M1A1" off my bucket list! And as a bonus - we got a ride in a Humvee that served in Iraq! We then went to a Civil War living history encampment portrayed by my old outfit, Battery G, 2nd Illinois Light Artillery in Mount Carroll. We watched two 6 pound cannon demonstrations for a total of four shots. So all totaled, it was a very good day!
