Social Media Check Before Gun Purchase?

I wonder if Sen. Kevin Parker would go for a ten or even twenty year history check before an elected official is actually let into office to make sure everything is on the up and up.

"In the last decade, every single House Democrat sent to prison for financial crimes was a ...In the last twenty years, it’s been over 80%"

There is no way to actually implement this. When they want to run a background check on your social media, what happens if you tell them you have no facebook, twitter, or google accounts, will you be denied?.

Don't fall into that catch 22 trap, perjury or false information on a form like this depending on how it's written would make you a felon and thus forever prohibited! That is the secondary goal of this push to turn lawful gun owners into felons, their goal if they can't outlaw the guns, they will outlaw the people.

As far as I know, It's impossible to prove a negative.

It's only a negative if it's not true, for anyone that has or even likely had a social media account and answered 'none' it would be a felony when they stated 'none'

What would be interesting is what a law like that would deem social media because under the basic definition even this website is a social media platform as is pretty much every forum on the Internet. To truthfully answer 'none' one would basically have to have remained offline and never joined any forum, message board, or big social media network ever. What about professional sites like Linkedin, that is basically a social media platform as well. Heck even playing online games that have messaging boards and player profiles could be deemed social media. Truth is social media isn't limited to just Facebook and a few other big platforms.

Your Android phone and even your iPhone for all intents mandate you sign up for services that include social media aspects to some degree.

It might be easy for some older people now to claim no social media accounts, but for younger people in the US it's going to be nearly impossible in the coming years to make that claim truthfully.

Sorry to tell you this, but the details I saw about the bill stated that by social media they mean facebook, twitter, linkedikn and a couple of other major social media sites, not web discussion forums. The only one of these sites I've ever visited is linkedin and that's only been for job hunting or to read the occasional article someone at work suggested reading because it was related to what we do.

And I'm sorry to tell you (albeit you already know full well) that the anti-gunners have a history of moving to take a dollar when they are given a penny There is no way if a law like this was enacted and passed that it would remain limited to only a few listed sites and never amended to broaden the scope. We already see this happening with the State Department and visas were the department is able to add and remove the platforms they deem appropriate to look at essentially on a whim.

Is THIS social media???

oh, oh

(drops pen and runs)

Under the black and white definition of the term, yep.

From Merriam Webster

social media : forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos)

There is money to be made here. All those companies that will wipe your internet footprint clean will make a mint! So, then you would have to have legislation forbidding companies from doing this.

Let's face it, it's all so Unconstitutional as to be nothing more than the deep thoughts of Bobo and Lil' Devil
