Bill Maher urges liberals to 'learn more about guns,' says issue is a 2020 loser for Democrats

By Douglas Ernst - The Washington Times - Monday, June 10, 2019

Bill Maher says the 2020 election may get ugly for Democrats if they make gun control one of the party’s primary objectives.

The “Real Time” host recently told his HBO audience that it was time for liberals to “learn more about guns” and stop acting as if their policies are a silver bullet for mass shootings.
...
Mr. Maher then told his panel that even if 2020 presidential hopefuls did “everything” Democrats wanted, “you would have this problem because it’s much more complicated than just the mass killers or the type of gun,” Fox News reported.

They can't fight against common sense forever.

The positive note here... We ignore celebrities when they spew their cries for "common sense gun laws." Democrats will ignore Maher for speaking the truth.

I prefer a no payer system as far as the federal government goes. What you subsidize you get more of. The federal social welfare system has destroyed the local social network.

Until such a time the federal government gets out of the welfare business. Except for what the government rips out of my pocket, I am out of the welfare business.

I can’t understand why anybody would want a single payer system. Such a system will be infested with inefficiencies, add multiple levels of government bureaucracy, waste and incompetence. Also add the tax burden of the great benefits and retirement programs that will be available to all these new government employees. Also, the government now dictates what is covered and what is not. Queue the death panels.

Any candidate that supports that will never get my vote.

Sounds like Bernie Sanders.
Medicare for all is Medicare for none. Prices would skyrocket, there would be less doctors, less innovation, less care. People will actually die.
(Sarcasm on)
I wonder what people in Venezuela think about democratic socialism, kinda like the government asking if you want to be punched in the head or the gut, at least you get to pick! (Sarcasm off)

I've edited my comment.

I certainly did not intend to turn this into a discussion on healthcare policy.

Back on topic...

I crave a real Pro Gun Candidate.

I think it would be a winning position.

They wouldn’t make it out of the debates as it goes against their party platform

To Maher's credit, I saw him interviewing a conservative who corrected Maher on something he said in his ignorance about guns. Mahler replied, in effect, I didn't know that, I learned something today.

Most of us have experienced utter ignorance of guns from otherwise well meaning people. Maher will probably be ignored by his kind, at least he acknowledges it.

Bill Maher is one of those people that is either loved or hated. There doesn't seem to be a grey area there.

At times he makes good points and other times it's like What the hey!!!?

I gave up watching him a few years back because of that. Right after saying something sensible he would pluck some super far left nonsense out of the wrong orifice and lose the whole plot.

All fundamental liberties are interrelated. When you weaken one, you weaken them all, even if it is not immediately apparent to the short-sighted and fearful.

I thought Michael Moore died years ago.

Maybe it was just wishful thinking.

Can anybody name a "movie" he made that didn't revolve around something bad?

The filter is getting a bit restrictive, I didn't write What the hey!!!?

I wrote the letters for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

She ran circles around Moore. All that he could do is make fun or come up with “muskets” and “100 round magazines” Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
