ISP Schedules Public Hearing for Their Gun Dealer Proposed Rules & Regulations

So the state compels every dealer to maintain a digital registry containing all the information about the firearm, purchase and purchaser. This database is accessible by law-enforcement without a warrant 24/7.

The only way I see this is the state has set up gun registration in addition to owner registration. But instead of the state maintaining a database, they are compelling private businesses and individuals to maintain their database for them at the cost and expense of those private individuals.

This places firearm dealers in compliance with state law in a position of cooperation with the state in the deprivation of civil rights against gun owners. Sounds like a very insidious form of divide and conquer doctrine.

File a lawsuit as a violation of federal law per the 1986 gun owners protection act

No such rule or regulation prescribed [by the Attorney General] after the date of the enactment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act may require that records required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any system of registration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or disposition be established. Nothing in this section expands or restricts the Secretary's authority to inquire into the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.

I don't understand why this entire law has not yet been challenged due to Pritzker signing it and a previous General Assembly passing it.

Good question.......

The ISRA filed a lawsuit right after the Gov. signed it.

1. Good. 2. Still ongoing?
