brianj - now in Kansas Posted April 28, 2017 at 01:54 PM Share Posted April 28, 2017 at 01:54 PM And Springfield, in particular, just released their new XD-E today. I expect they'd like a lot of us to buy one. It'll be a cold day after this episode. Bri
3ddiver Posted April 28, 2017 at 01:57 PM Share Posted April 28, 2017 at 01:57 PM Well that sucks. I have been a Springfield fan for a long time. I may never buy another gun from them now
GTX63 Posted April 28, 2017 at 02:03 PM Share Posted April 28, 2017 at 02:03 PM I own a Rock River. I seriously was nearing the purchase of their M5 nickle 12g shotgun. It isn't a whole lot of money and it isn't a legacy item, so I'll pass and if this legislation comes to fruition, neither Rock River or Springfield will ever see the digits of my credit card again. I won't be angry at them, I'll just use other manufacturers.

The only way to redeem themselves is to flip position and tell their lobby guy to oppose the bill in the house. Pressure needs to be on them right now. brianj - now in Kansas Posted April 28, 2017 at 02:08 PM Share Posted April 28, 2017 at 02:08 PM The email I just sent to Springfield Armory: Dear Sir or Ma'am, I was sadly disappointed to see that IFMA (a 527 group of which Springfield Armory and RRA are the sole contributors) appears to have traded their opposition to a horrible bill in the Illinois Senate in exchange for an exemption to that bill for Illinois firearm manufacturers. In other words, you sold your souls and were willing to abandon the law-abiding gun owners of Illinois in order to protect your own skins. Perhaps you forgot that, in the end, those exact same law-abiding gun owners are the ones that buy your products. It seems a particularly inauspicious time for you to introduce your XD-E. Before I had heard of your betrayal, I was very interested in looking at an XD-E, as I already had an XDs and found it to be a nice sidearm. Needless to say, that purchase and further purchases of Springfield Armory products are is no longer being considered. Sincerely, brian

Hap Posted April 28, 2017 at 03:05 PM Share Posted April 28, 2017 at 03:05 PM Just called Rock River and asked to talk to whoever sold us out. After a few minutes on hold the phone-answerer came back with a "no comment." I said a few carefully-selected words and got the further response of "I'm sorry you feel that way." 866-980-ROCK or 309-792-5780 if you want to hear it for yourself. Nanook Posted April 28, 2017 at 03:28 PM Share Posted April 28, 2017 at 03:28 PM I have more than one item from each company. If this is their attitude, there will be no more buys from either of them. If this goes through, who do they think will sell their items if most of the LGS's are out of business? Nothing either company offers is that unique or special. Lots of companies make AR style rifles. Lots of companies make polymer pistols. And lots of companies make 1911 clones.
