2018 Spring Session Bills - Volunteers Needed!

Recommended Posts

It's that time of the year again - the time to consider how you can directly contribute to protecting and defending our rights!

Before we file witness slips, before the phone calls and before reaching out to non-members elisting their help, we must start with a list of bills to be watched - a list developed by volunteers.

Each volunteer will be assigned one or more block(s) of bills. Simply visit the Bills and Resolutions page periodically, click on the number group(s) assigned to you, and check any that appear to effect us. Any bills that seem relevant should be posted in this thread.

Pay particular attention to bills that effect the following codes, including "shell bills" that change a single word but can be used for other purposes later. Appropriations bills can be ignored:

430 - Public Safety Code
520 - Wildlife Code
525 - Conservation Code
720 - Criminal Code

And remember, this is an opportunity for many people to show their enthusiasm through these efforts. While help outside your assigned block(s) of bills is welcome, please focus primarily on your own groups.

I've added HB4286 Law Enforcement - Equipment to the list of bills we oppose.

It prohibits purchase of military equipment which is easily argued law enforcement should not generally possess. Inclusion of suppressors, however, will work against legalization of civilian suppressor ownership if/when the right bill is positioned to move.

HB4328-ISP-MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY

HB4328-ISP-MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY

Amends the Illinois Hazardous Materials Transportation Act to provide that the Department of State Police (instead of the Department of Transportation) shall administer the Act

Since primers and powder are hazmat

This one's a stretch, I read through what it could ammend and don't see how language could be added to restrict specifically powders or primers or getting anything else added as hazardous material definitions are all regulated by federal hazmat law.

And there's nothing about hazmat in a private vehicle.

So not worth following?
