btownbb Posted January 24, 2017 at 02:50 PM Share Posted January 24, 2017 at 02:50 PM I am at 90 days on my FOID card application. Money was withdrawn from my account on 10/26/2016. I have called multiple times only to continuously receive the message that they are receiving a high call volume at the moment and to call back later, only to receive the same message when I call back later. I don't want to admit the number of time I have called. Also I have sent in 3 inquiries asking the status of my application, referencing my application number, with no response to this point. From reading on here I have seen other people say that their application has been held up because the ISP needed more documentation but they had to call to find that out. How am I suppose to figure out the status of the application??? I have sent an email to Mike Bost as he is my district representative. If I right click on the under review status it says QC verified, Approved but I don't know what this means. Just getting aggravated at the point. In the past 2 years I have had my house broken into (while no one was home) and my car broken into. I don't necessarily want my CC at this point and time but I would like to have the ability to defend my home if one of these kids decide to kick in my back door while I am sleeping. I am also suppose to be going on a predator hunt in a couple months with my dad and still need to purchase a rifle and shoot it. Figured by applying in October I would have had plenty of time to do so but it is looking questionable as of now. I have a clean record, outside of a couple speed tickets, but those have all been paid on time. I also have my finger prints registered with Madison County when I worked for the school district. Just don't know what is holding it up or even what to do at this point.

soundguy Posted January 24, 2017 at 03:26 PM Share Posted January 24, 2017 at 03:26 PM btownbb A trick which has worked for me... When you call, Press 0 as soon as the recording begins. This has always put me into a short wait for a human rather than getting the please call back message. You should have all your info in front of you. Please be polite to the woman who answers. She has answered all of my silly questions, even when the answers seemed unsatisfactory. Todd is also an excellent option. I'm 12 days into a possible long wait to replace a stolen card. Good luck. btownbb Posted January 24, 2017 at 03:37 PM Author Share Posted January 24, 2017 at 03:37 PM I just read a post from someone saying they called the Director of the Illinois State Police about their foid card and they took their information and it was processed within like 5 days. Can anyone confirm or deny/recommend/head warning? Sounds good in theory, start flooding the directors desk with foid calls and maybe he does something about it. May be wishful thinking on my part. Bubbacs Posted January 24, 2017 at 05:16 PM Share Posted January 24, 2017 at 05:16 PM We've seen Todd and MollyB work magic behind the scenes many times now on these matters. As always having the people who are YOUR lobbyist in Springfield and with the direct contacts on YOUR side will be very helpful.I'm sure some have given thought to ways to speed the process and maybe it worked before or maybe it was just luck in the timing of the call, e-mail, either way, having Todd on this will get a clear response and YOUR specific needs will be addressed. Hang in there and Welcome to the Forums.
futuredeadguy Posted February 1, 2017 at 04:17 PM Share Posted February 1, 2017 at 04:17 PM Newbie here - first post - thanks for the add, Mods. Writing to share my info about current wait time for a foid card. I reported mine lost on 12/21/16. My dashboard still shows SUBMITTED 2/1/17 when I right click status. I contacted the ISP via the web site on 1/23/17 - still have never received a reply. Called the ISP this morning. 30 minute hold time, which is better than I expected. The person I spoke with was friendly - and there was nothing wrong with my app according to her, but current wait is 8 to 10 weeks. Other discussions during the call - Firearms must stay locked up and not used until valid card is received. My CCL is not valid without a valid FOID. Now the fun part. Two days after I applied for a replacement, my son came home for Christmas and handed me my original card. "You left this in my glove compartment last time we went to the range". Dammit! SleepingBirdDog Posted February 4, 2017 at 03:14 AM Share Posted February 4, 2017 at 03:14 AM This is no way to run a railroad. 6-10 weeks to exercise a 'right'?! I hate this state.

My CCL is not valid without a valid FOID. IANAL, nor am I an ISP bigwig, but isn't the definition of "lost" different than "invalid" or "revoked" - the reasons why it might be invalid? Sounds like more holdovers from the Blago/Quinn admins creating "policies" that have no bearing in statute or Admin Rule.
KEV Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:06 PM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:06 PM Just like futuredeadguy, I am a newbie here. I am actually in the same boat as well. I reported my FOID lost around 12/23, but found it a week later. Obviously, it was too late to do anything at that point. Its close to 8 weeks now and I'm getting worried about my status, which is still "under review". I've called ISP and spoke to Robin twice (yes, I waited 45 min each time) and she was incredibly nice. I understand that there is not much she can help me with because she doesn't have too much details about my application. I've also messaged using the ISP website, but have had no answer. I don't have any criminal record and can't think of anything that would hold up the process. My question is, could there be a problem with my application (e.g. missing information, inconsistent info, etc), and if so, could I contact someone besides calling ISP phone #.?Also, I applied for my CCL a week or two after, would that affect the processing of getting my new FOID? Robin said I should just wait for my new FOID, but it's been so long, I'm not sure what's wrong. Thank for all the information thus far.

InterestedBystander Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:34 PM Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:34 PM They used to be able to process FOID apps under old system in 4 weeks or less, now they arent making 12 weeks. Obviously process has changed, but it would still seem to indicate a broken procedure that needs to be addressed. Hard to believe it is just volume.
