holster type question

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a Remora/Sticky type holster that will accommodate a full size P320 with a WML. I like to keep my house guns loaded and stuffed into these type of holsters to protect the trigger so I don't have any issues grabbing it out of the safe box in my nightstand.

Ideas? I tried a MIC holster (trigger guard type) and it's a total bust because it doesn't work with the WML.

I don't need or want retention, I want semi-stiff sides and snag free removal.

My strategically placed firearms around the house.. I typically use an "in the pocket" type. Mikes for instance.

It protects the trigger, and also the finish of the firearm and if you do not use the retention strap (if equipped), there is little retention. if any.

My closet gun, I use a Mikes "in the pocket" holster as well as the night stand gun (+ a couple of others).. My CC firearm never leaves the holster (due to retention), when I put it away, I put the holster away and the firearm goes with it.

Neither suggestion will accommodate the weapon mounted light... that's my problem. I can find solutions that work without a light no problem, but the light makes this a bigger pain to store.

Thanks for trying to help me though. Anybody else have an idea?

Did you give them a call and ask if they can make you what you want also try Black Rhino they do custom work https://blackrhinoconcealment.com/

If a product doesn't exist to fit your need, you could make one yourself.

Google "DIY Pocket Holster" for ideas. Leather, oil cloth, vinyl... Limitless possibilities.

Cannibalize a Remora if you want that sticky stuff.

One guy fastened a Kydex shell to a leather rectangle.

Black Rhino in Gilbert, Illinois will make custom Kydex stuff for you.

Could be a fun project!

I think you have hit on the path here. I might have to slice open the bottom stiching on a Remora to make room for the light...or make something.

I hate making things though. I always start with a great plan/idea in my head and usually end up with something that falls far short of what I had envisioned.

I can fix pretty much anything mechanical, but fabrication and engineering from scratch aren't really my forte.

Get some good heavy cotton thread, a curved needle (thimble optional) and take your time.

Relax, watch some TV and sip your poison of choice while you work.

You'll be knitting holsters in no time!

*Wouldn't that be cool... felted wool holsters for the holidays!

Ugly Christmas holsters!!!

Learn to grab P320 out of the safe box in my nightstand without putting your finger on the trigger until ready to shoot.

Like all holsters, the concern isn't a trained finger that knows better so much as the other things that might incidentally occupy the space between the guard and trigger. My flashlight is in the safe box too. All kinds of crap in the nightstand itself.

And you might not know, but I have a nerve condition that affects finger strength and dexterity, in addition to the loss of feeling from neuropathy.

All said, I'm just doing my level best to not be irresponsible or negligent while also being prepared for a day/night I hope never comes.

Since you aren’t concerned with retention at all just about any competent leather artisan can make you a sheath that’ll cover trigger and fit your p320 with a light.

Or,look to any of the kydex IWB’s made for the P320 with a light and remove the belt clip and just use the kydex sheath.

For someone that has a nerve condition that affects finger strength and dexterity, in addition to the loss of feeling from neuropathy, you may want to rethink your storage method. Putting your pistol in a holster inside a safe box inside a cluttered drawer would be very safe, but for who? By the time you finally get to your gun the bad guy could have finished his task in complete safety.

Here is an idea - Kydex trigger guard. Since you didn't specify the type of light you have I didn't look for exactly the model although the first choice offers many choices. By attaching the holster cord to something presentation could clear the holster upon removal from safe.

I know you mentioned retention needing/wanting as little as possible but what about one of those kydex trigger guards that only covers the trigger area. They typically add a tether to the end for easy removal.

That was my first attempt...that's what a MIC holster is.

I'm thinking I'm going to take the hair dryer and dremel out and see if I can modify it to fit with the light on.

Problem resolved. I think it's rather elegant of a solution. You guys kept posting the same concept of the trigger guard only type protection and/or making something. I modified the MIC holster I bought at the start of this adventure. I had to cut about half of the kydex away to make clearance for the light. I also had to heat and reform the "retention" pinches in the kydex so it will release in a downward push or pull. The pull string attaches to a hook on the back wall of the safe box, it pulls the trigger cover straight off as I lift the firearm out. Seamless operation. In the event that the string/hook fail, I bent the top corner up into a tab that my thumb hits...I've got a "wipe" I do out of habit to disengage the safety on my P938. That same motion knocks this cover off.
