steveTA84 Posted September 14, 2019 at 02:31 AM Share Posted September 14, 2019 at 02:31 AM Just heard this on CNN from Nadler... A hearing on "assault Weapons" on Sept 25.Questions dealing with confiscation and what is on the table could not be answered. Nadler ended with "The primary focus will be to have "assault weapons" banned." While I don't care for them myself, it might have been good to buy one in a private transaction a decade ago...You dont care for assault weapons? Who wouldnt want a full auto M16 or AK? Why not get an AR now though?

Yep... and I'm more attracted to lever guns and and the battle rifles from the war play of my youth. I shot an AR once... it was easy and I shot it well but it just didn't do anything for me. No romance at all.Shot a vintage Thompson (one of two from the St Valentines Day Massacre)... now that was a blast and yet what a waste of bullets for the ordinary guy. Should I find one while rehabbing a Chicago Bungalow I'd keep my mouth shut. The early morning CNN talk says Trump is not inclined to do gun reform... or ban vaping. Whatever you do, don’t tell Beto & Friends that those are the REAL “weapons on war”, not Palmetto state Armory AR’s or garbage Century Arms made AK’s LOL TBH, I’ve fallen in love with the FN49 in .30-06. Easily putting 30 rounds into a circle the size of a quarter @ 75 feet the first time you shoot it doesn't do anything for you??? Makes me want to try to shoot a quarter @ 750 feet with some bigger, more frightening .30 caliber scoped rifle to see how tough/easy/fun that is. Yeah... there was no challenge to it after the second round. Now, if you take an 80 year old pistol design and bring it up to date with backwards compatibility, I'm very interested! * Head shots on rats at 5 yards with a pellet rifle at dusk requires more skill. skinnyb82 Posted September 15, 2019 at 08:00 PM Share Posted September 15, 2019 at 08:00 PM Dems aren't stupid. They know that none of these candidates can compete with Trump. That's why they'll trot out someone like Michelle Obama or even (hearing rumors of this one, scary) Hillary. People love Michelle Obama...for some extremely illogical reason. Flynn Posted September 16, 2019 at 10:37 PM Share Posted September 16, 2019 at 10:37 PM Dems aren't stupid. They know that none of these candidates can compete with Trump. Personally I think they know they are not going to beat Trump this cylce so they are putting the extremist out there with radical ideas to see just how far they can push their demographic on issues before their main demographic walks away, this way when they selected thier pre-ordained candidate for 2024 and put on the primary circus act, that pre-ordained canidate has a canned narrative that they can sell their voter base and cruise through the primary, much like they did grooming Hillary, this of course assumes a radical doesn't challenge the status like Bernie did last cycle requiring the fix to be put in again. skinnyb82 Posted September 17, 2019 at 12:42 AM Share Posted September 17, 2019 at 12:42 AM Are people truly this crazy? Really. We have 6 candidates (or senators? I can't remember) jumping on the "impeach Kavanaugh" bandwagon and a video of Biden surfacing, talking about when he kicked a black kid off a diving board during his days as a lifeguard. I'm sure Delaware was a diverse state back then /sarc. And that's within the last 48-72 hours. This. Is. NUTS. Euler Posted September 23, 2019 at 06:09 AM Share Posted September 23, 2019 at 06:09 AM Chicago Tribune Opinion In an IQ contest with Beto O’Rourke, I would guess, Donald Trump would finish a distant second. But in tweeting Wednesday that, when it comes to gun legislation, “Dummy Beto made it much harder to make a deal,” Trump actually had a point. ... Asked, "Are you proposing taking away their guns?" he was moved to make the stirring proclamation: "heck, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47. We're not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore." It was a thunderous vindication of the paranoia that afflicts a segment of the gun-owning population. Barack Obama ran in 2008 promising not to take away anyone's firearms, and he was true to his word. Gun fanatics accused him and his party of plotting to do just that, though, and O'Rourke has given them the - what's the term? - smoking gun. ... For Democrats to say they want to seize a class of common firearms is the equivalent of a homeowner who, failing to get her asking price, decides to triple it. Or maybe it's the equivalent of losing a U.S. Senate race and then deciding you should run for president. Such statements make it easier for Trump to pass up the sort of deal that, in periodic moments of weakness, he has suggested he could accept. Instead of being on the defensive, he's able to go on offense. ... Yet O'Rourke wants to leapfrog these options and focus on taking away guns that have long been legal. His demand is only likely to convince a lot of people that any gun control measure, no matter how modest, would be confiscation on the installment plan. And where is the need for confiscation, anyway? It would affect only gun owners who have shown zero propensity to commit crimes, much less mass shootings, with their AR-15s. A ban on the manufacture, import or sale of these firearms, however, would prevent any person who doesn't already have an AR-15 from legally acquiring one. So aspiring mass shooters would find it much harder to get them. ... Small victories may be uninspiring, but not as much as defeat. O'Rourke's provocative position makes sense as part of the melodramatic journey of personal discovery he seems to be on. But for those who would like to pass any gun regulations, it amounts to friendly fire.
Flynn Posted September 23, 2019 at 07:13 AM Share Posted September 23, 2019 at 07:13 AM So aspiring mass shooters would find it much harder to get them. Another idiot (although he did see some light) that doesn't have a clue about how easy it is for those of the criminal persuasion to obtain a firearm with a few Benjamins no questions asked. The truth is and we all know it that "A ban on the manufacture, import or sale of these firearms" would result in "aspiring mass shooters" simply choosing a different firearm. These idiots are so sold on the anti-gun zealots falacy that the AR15 and AK47 are something highly unique that they have no clue that other functionally identical firearms exist.
