GTX63 Posted September 20, 2020 at 08:39 PM Share Posted September 20, 2020 at 08:39 PM Impeachment, packing the courts, etc. While there are several Republicans chewing their nails and pulling the curtains back before leaving their office, the Democrats could give a flying fooey about upsetting anyone, let alone their base. This November will be a historical defining moment as to whether the American public sees both sides as a problem, the Republicans as the problem, or the Democrats. Flynn Posted September 20, 2020 at 09:12 PM Share Posted September 20, 2020 at 09:12 PM I say nip it in the butt, nominate and start confirmation before the end of the week and if she wants to play games, force her to do it before the election. There is nothing that will awake more of the silent majority and unify the GOP.

Quiet Observer Posted September 20, 2020 at 10:35 PM Share Posted September 20, 2020 at 10:35 PM The House has no connection to the selection or approval of a Supreme Court nominee. Only the Senate has the authority to give consent to a President's nominee. The Senate is not involved in the impeachment process. Upon impeachment, essentially an indictment, the House presents the case to the Senate. They vote on removal from office.A President retains full power and authority of the office until removal from office, if that should occur. Just a guess, but any attempt by the House to control the Senate in such a way would almost certainly be nullified by the SC quickly, that whole seperation of powers thing between the two chambers. richp Posted September 21, 2020 at 09:14 PM Share Posted September 21, 2020 at 09:14 PM Hollow posturing on the part of Pelosi. Besides, nothing says the Senate has to take up a House impeachment document until after it has acted on the SC nominee. Rich Phillips

EngChi Posted September 22, 2020 at 02:04 PM Share Posted September 22, 2020 at 02:04 PM and who cares? it is like - the sun will rise tomorrow 'news' the Dems in the house can (and will) make whatever noise they want. Even if house passes something, all they do is galvanize the races for the house come November (see this scum that attacked our president?). Senate will never support anything they pass , and both sides would just use it to stimulate their base.
