IL Compliant sign posted..... in Indiana

I was at the Comcast store in Hammond Indiana this weekend to turn back a cable box. When I walked up to the door they had correctly post a COMPLIANT IL sign.

Living a few blocks from the border, I do most of my business in Indiana and I've never seen this before. That got me thinking.

Does that sign hold any weight of law when posted in Indiana or any other state for that matter?

Did this mistake slip Comcast when they mailed out the rest of the compliant signs to Illinois locations?

For the same reason we can open carry in Indiana, that IL sign has no bearing in Indiana. It's Indiana law that matters in Indiana. If I were still a Comcast customer I'd go drop my cable box off while open carrying just to see the reaction.

I'm sure like most people, Comcast has no idea where Hammond actually is. The more I think about it, the more I think it wasn't Comcast that posted that sign but some low level worker from across the border. I'd bet they saw that sign somewhere else in IL, thought that if it works in IL it would work in Indiana and stuck it to the glass.

Depends on the posting requirements of the state you are in. If they only need a sign that shows a gun with a red circle, i would imagine the illinois sign would work there. If they require different words on there like texas does. Then they don't work there.

In Indiana signs do not carry force of law. They're merely a suggestion until you're asked to leave the premises. Come to think of it, I've never actually seen anywhere that I can remember in Indiana that has a no guns sign.

And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"

So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why

He said "You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do"

So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!"

Whoa-oh-oh

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign

Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind

Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

And the sign said anybody caught trespassin' would be shot on sight

So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house

"Hey! What gives you the right?"

"To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in"

"If God was here he'd tell you to your face, man, you're some kinda sinner"

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign

Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind

Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Will their employees attempt to forcibly disarm cops that enter?

I think we have the answer. It all depends on the law in the place where your'e standing.
