Do you have a firearms wishlist?

I'm fairly new to gun ownership, first time I even shot was in OSUT back in 2003, but after a medical discharge for a previously unknown condition (asthma doesn't fit well with Cav) I didn't shoot again until this past January. Obviously I got the bug, and now own a CZ 75B Compact (currently being cajunized) and a P238. Due to realistic budgetary reasons I have to pace myself regarding further acquisitions, but I've already got a list of guns I want to buy in the future.

Here's my list so far:

Handguns:

* Ruger Mk IV (.22LR)

* Walther PPK (black, .32)

* Smith and Wesson 686 (.357 Mag)

* Colt SAA (4.75 inch barrel, .45 Colt)

* WWII M1911 (.45 ACP)

Rifles:

* Ruger 10/22 Sporter (.22LR)

* M1 Garand (.30-06)

* Springfield M1903 (.30-06)

* Remington 700 (.308)

* Colt LE6920 (5.56mm)

Shotguns:

* Mossberg 500 (12-gauge)

How about you? I'm curious to hear what others think, personal taste being unique to the individual and all that. So do you have your own wishlist? If you do, what's in it? Or maybe you already have all the guns you want. Any "must-have" firearms you think my list would benefit from (and why)?

As long as you are 'wish listing', had you ever heard of this thing called a "C&R License"?

Basically, it's a gun collector's FFL. $30.00 for a three year license, it allows you to purchase directly from distributors online and have the firearms delivered to your front door. It eliminates the three or one day wait times for SOME gun purchases in your local gun store, and it saves you some cash at some gun related supply stores.

It's not good for buying ALL guns, but mainly for what you might think of as military surplus....older firearms like that Springfield 1903 and the 1911. (good luck finding those needles in the haystacks, though). C&R license topics are in the "Gear" forum on this site. Look it over, and if you catch that bug.....welcome to the club of "Oh, yeah, do I have a case of the "I Want"s'.

No, I'd never heard of a C&R license before, sounds interesting though. Something to check out at the very least, so thanks for the info.

Yeah, I know haha...although, I do have a very good chance of getting my hands on the WWII Remington Rand that my uncle inherited from my grandfather...but in that circumstance it'll hopefully not be for many years.

My wishlist is pretty small these days. One of the reasons is I do nothing but shoot in competitions now, so almost all of my guns are safe queens. The other reason is I have no more room in my safe.

The remaining guns I'd like to have are:

Handguns:

- Desert Eagle .50 AE

- Sig P226 Mk 25

- Old school German Luger

Rifles:

- 03 Springfield

- K98 Mauser WWII era

- Mosin Nagant

- Something larger than a 308....338 lapua maybe

I won't be able to acquire any of these though until I can get a bigger safe, which would require moving.

I could stand to sell a few guns I have now, but only have one for sure that I know I want to sell, and only because my father owns the same one, and I rarely shoot mine as it is.

IMO pass of the desert eagle. I've had one for a long time now in .50ae and although it attracts a lot of attention at the range I will take one of my Kimbers or glocks over it any day.

It's mainly one of those "I've always wanted one" sorts of guns.

I have a 44 magnum that I rarely shoot, and only own because I wanted it. But that's basically what the rest of my wish list is....guns that won't really serve a practical purpose in my collection, other than being a range toy. The only exception would be a bolt action rifle larger than 308, so a 338 lapua. That actually would have a purpose in my collection.

The only guns I shoot regularly are my Stoeger M3000, Competition AR, and STI DVC Limited. I shoot my carry guns about once a month just to get some rounds downrange with them. Everything else I try to get out once a year.

If I did wind up buying a DE, I would send it to the gunsmith to get it tuned up. I've shot one before, so I know what to expect, and ammo cost won't be an issue since I'd load my own. It's just a huge chunk of metal that is somewhat fun to shoot. Not regularly, but a nice gun to enjoy a couple times a year.

My collection is pretty big already. Pretty sure I'd be considered a "Super Owner" at this point.

That said, there are a couple of things I'd like to pick up eventually, though it isn't a very burning desire yet:

SVI in .40 for USPSA Limited

Alternatively to the above, maybe a CZ TS Orange in .40 for Limited

SVI in 9mm Major or .38super for USPSA Open

Alternatively to the above, maybe a CZ Czechmate for Open

My currently Limited gun, a CZ Custom CTS, doesn't really need to be replaced though.

Aside from those specifics, the following might be nice to round out my collection.

A very nice bolt action rifle. I don't own any bolt guns yet.

An Over/Under shotgun for trap shooting

A rifle in .22lr, likely a CZ 455 or 452 bolt action

A revolver of some sort

A lever action rifle of some sort

A 1911 maybe. Ideally one from the CMP.

What I DO have a burning desire for are suppressors. I've actually deliberately avoided doing research on them specifically because I don't want to torture myself. If they ever become legal in this state I intend to purchase at least 3 on the first day possible, (.22, 9mm, and 5.56), with another 4 or more afterwards.

Outta curiosity, why do you have such a strong desire to buy a bunch of suppressors? The only draw I can see about using them (outside of a tactical standpoint and I'm assuming you aren't planning on performing any stealthy midnight raids) would be to reduce the noise when target shooting, but unless you have your own private range you'll still need to contend with other people's weapon noise. Plus even with a suppressor some stuff is still loud enough to warrant at least "some" hearing protection (our ears are more sensitive than you'd think).

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to engage in a discussion about whether or not they should be legal, I'm honestly just curious as to why you want to own them.

I had a DE .50AE and it's fun to shoot and does attract an unusual amount of attention at the range. IMO the best part about the gun is Magnum Research, they're top notch outfit and really stand behind their products should you have a problem like I did.

My answer is multi-faceted I suppose. The first, and most important, is "because I just want it and it shouldn't be banned in the first place." Honestly, that's the same reason I own most of the guns that I do.

Aside from that, I usually shoot with electronic earmuffs and ear plugs. When shooting outside with a suppressor, the earplugs wouldn't be necessary. So it would be more comfortable and easier to communicate with others on the range.

Finally, I would like one on my nightstand pistol. I know it's very unlikely that I'd ever need to use it for protection, but it the rare even that I did I would prefer not to damage my hearing and the hearing of my wife and child.

My list is pretty long but the three near the top would be a Borchardt, a German Luger and a Broomhandle Mauser. All 3 simply for their historical value and because they are fascinating machines.

After I win the Powerball the length of the list ceases to be a concern and several full auto machines move to a place of prominence.

Colt SAA 5 1/2" in either .45Colt or .357

Mauser C96 in 9mm (It's the Han Solo gun, what else is there to be said?)

8" Barrel for my Dan Wesson .357

Stainless Buckmark Camper with the standard grips

Springfield M1A1 in the classic configuration

umm...

Huh, that's all I can think of atm. It seems like there's always something that catches my eye but this is what comes to mind for now.

edit: oh yeah, a Sig 226, probably the West German one, I hear the newer ones aren't nearly as good.

+1.

Suppressors are as practical as a muffler on a car. I want to be able to listen to the radio in my truck when I'm driving down the road. Same as I want to be able to think while I'm shooting.

My ears ring all the time now. I like to shoot, I want my family to shoot, and I want to be able preserve our hearing whether if it's for "business" or pleasure. I'd think that a suppressed 22lr rifle would make for a delightful afternoon with a young shooter sans ear pro.

Is the IWI similar to a M323 Galil?

Just got one of those. Not the familiar with it. (Yet).

Similar. The Ace is a modernization of the older galil and the ones on my list use AR15 and AR10 mags.
