It bothers me that instructors are saying things as fact when they should just say they don't know. I wonder what else they're saying to their students. Some Instructors feel it's an obligation to have all the answers instead of just being honest. Nothing is wrong with saying I don't know.

The Department shall grant or deny an FCCL renewal application no later than 90 days after receipt of a completed application, except that the Department is granted by Section 30 b(8) of the Act 30 days in addition to the 90 days if the applicant has not previously submitted a full set of fingerprints in electronic format.

I would hope they begin accepting renewal applications at least 120 days before the first one expires.

After 5 years of carrying, it would be quite annoying to not be able to carry for even a short period of time.

As it has been stated before, once you submit for your renewal, you can continue to carry with your expired license. There is no rush for them to get a new one to you, because you are assumed to be valid.

( c ) A license is invalid upon expiration of the license, unless the licensee has submitted an application to renew the license, and the applicant is otherwise eligible to possess a license under this Act.

Tell that to an out of state cop.

An OOS officer would most likely get CCL status from Nlets. I'd like to think an applied for but expired CCL would be reported by the state to Nlets as active, the same as a CCL reported to an ISP officer checking status.
