I think this was announced at the end of last year.

NRA Carry Guard Level 1 Training Course

Short Description: This intensive three-day course is designed to prepare gun owners to carry a firearm with confidence and competence. The student should already grasp the fundamentals of handgun operation and safety; therefore, beginners are advised to start with the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course or a comparable class before considering NRA Carry Guard training.

More Details: NRA Carry Guard Level One is for those who take carrying a gun seriously—people who want to be more proficient shooters so they can carry concealed with greater confidence. It’s training for those who know it takes more than a gun to be well-armed and who understand that carrying every day requires discipline, education and a respectful appreciation of the magnitude of drawing the gun from the holster.

The course is physically demanding—students should expect three days of being on their feet, in the elements and firing upwards of 1000 rounds. It will certainly tax students physically and mentally.

Areas of instruction will include: Safety and Weapons Awareness; Pistol Ready Positions; Fundamentals; Treating a Malfunction; Live Fire Progression Drills; Combat and Tactical Reloads; Drawing from a Holster; Low Light/No Light Shooting; Combat Reload while holding a Light; Key Components to Carry a Concealed Weapon; Carry Location Options (i.e. waist, ankle, purse, etc.); Real World Scenario Based Training (Airsoft scenarios).

I think the course below is Personal Protection Outside the Home. There has been a Personal Protection Inside the Home for years.

NRA Defensive Pistol Course

Short Description: This course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly and with confidence.

More Details: The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: how to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm; basic principles of concealment; the difference between cover and concealment; drawing from the holster; levels of mental awareness; developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection; clearing common stoppages; use of pocket pistols; and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics Of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate. This course is only conducted by NRA certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.
