Ammo shortages?

Perhaps not what you're looking for but the impending ammo shortage is not absent from MSM...

USA Today: Retailers are also limiting how much ammunition people can buy amidst supply shortages.

NBC: While there are no publicly available ways of directly measuring gun sales by private gun manufacturers, there are several indirect indicators. Online ammunition site Ammo.com reported a 70 percent increase in sales.

CNN: "Saturday was one of our biggest sales days," Timlin told CNN Business. "The only problem is the supply is running low. We're bound to what we can get."

Des Moines Register: 'Ammo is really a scarcity:' Iowa gun stores feel effects of coronavirus hoarding

I'm surprised we're not hearing about ammo shortages along with the TP, clorox and bread shortages at the grocery stores.

We learned already. I have no shortage.

Yes, some of us have learned and have spent the years since the last shortage stocking up when we see a decent sale.

heck, I did such a good job stocking up when I did an inventory last year I was able to sell my excess, about 8900 rounds.

Underwood Ammo always seems to have what I use in stock, except for today when I tried get some .38 Special +P 100 grain Xtreme Defender. Strangely, they were out of that. That's not likely a super-popular ammo, so maybe when I ordered it last from them I cleared out their stock.

Lots of people must have bought Smith J frames !

An email I got from GAT two days ago...

Due to increased sales throughout the firearm industry, there are restrictions on firearm and ammo purchases until further notice.
Additionally, in an attempt to minimize our customers' and staff's exposure to COVID-19 Virus, we have made the decision to postpone the majority of our training programs and classes.
Ammo Sales are limited to 1 box of target and 1 box of defensive/expanding ammo per caliber per household per day.
Firearm Purchases will stop 3 hours before store close until further notice. Gun pickups, range use, and non-firearm purchases will continue as normal after that time.
FOID and Concealed Carry applications, as well as fingerprints, are not being processed at this time.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to returning to standard practices as soon as possible.
As far as weathering any ammo shortages? I'm covered.
I've got 5 rounds of 22 (3 of which were picked up from ejected FTFs). 7 rusted steel cased 7.62x39 ....a .38 special missing its primer...and a low quality jpg of a 223.
Ya...thats the ticket.
ETA:
SOS looks to have ammo on hand.. (They have been a good company for me in the past... All their ammo includes primers. :) )

I live right by Midwest Guns and their website says they're not selling any ammo. I want to buy some personal defense ammo in 45 and 357, where's a good local place to buy? I can't order online because my FOID and CCW are both tied up in renewal/address change and although the SOS has my new address I haven't updated my physical driver's license yet.

If you are looking for 9mm self defense ammo, lucky gunner had federal HST 124 grain in stock as of 7:45am.

Screw luckygunner along with Cheaper Than Dirt. Both of those places were the biggest price gougers back during the last ammo shortage in 2012. Not only on ammo prices but just about everything else as well. I would never give the any money...

Everybody is gouging. I bought a couple of cases of Blazer 124 gr 9mm two months ago for $179.00 per case from Target Sports. I checked yesterday and they doubled the price to $359.00 per case.

I honestly haven't found anything I usually buy on Target Sports USA recently. I signed up for the "back in stock" emails but not sure if there'll be anything anytime soon.

Hopefully we are all in a position to hold out for regular prices.

Supply and demand; living in a free market. I see nothing wrong with it. It's better than the government enforcing unrealistic prices, and everyone being out of stock all the time. If someone wants the ammo bad enough, they can pay for it. If they don't want it as badly, they can delay the purchase. Also, really high prices discourage stockpiling at this time, so there's ammo for more people. I wish grocery stores would do this on the impossible to buy items. If you're paying double or triple price, you're likely to only buy what you really need instead of buying a bunch extra just-in-case.

Right, it is the principle of supply and demand. Change the scenario around a little - I doubt the anyone would be complaining if his wages or retirement was doubled.

I am not happy about higher prices. I just recognize the realities of life.

I'm watching an auction right now on Gunbroker: https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/862250745

$450 +$25 shipping for 9mm 124gr Blazer Brass

It closed at $465.00 + $25.00. A prime example of the old adage "a fool and his money are soon parted".

Buyer is going to be angry if they see targetsportsusa.com selling hst for less than that like they do at the start of every month.

I've never used Target Sports USA. Are their sales for everyone, or only for those who paid the extra fee to join their club?

I paid the extra fee for two years... they didn't auto renew my membership after that, possibly because I wasn't saving any money. When I order by the case, I still get a great price and even better service. The gift box at the end of my first year was kinda fun.

Right now, they seem to have only limited stock of only more expensive rounds. They don't show any FMJ/target rounds in stock. I imagine that will change later. I'll keep checking and probably place my summer order when they have what I like.

Cheers,
