Kingcreek Posted January 31, 2019 at 02:36 PM Share Posted January 31, 2019 at 02:36 PM Anybody know of an app or freeware that I can use to inventory my stuff? It would be great if I could add pics and columns for different details.Since it was so freakin cold yesterday and everything was closed, I spent part of the day taking pics and listing details serial numbers approx value etc on my guns. Need to do knives next since I still have a number of custom knives. Then reloading equipment. Optics, and shooting and hunting gear. Not only for insurance purposes but if anything happened to me my wife would have some place to start.

Some folks have had issues with product support. YMMV. You can download a free version which handles up to 10 firearms and has limited functionality for ammo, etc.

You can also store that as a backup in the cloud (Dropbox, etc) if you wish
Birdhunter1 Posted January 31, 2019 at 04:05 PM Share Posted January 31, 2019 at 04:05 PM I might consider storing that info in my iCloud account but no where else would I think of putting that kind of info in cyberworld. I have typed it out into a spreadsheet and printed it but I did not save the file, I gave it to someone to stow away.
Kingcreek Posted January 31, 2019 at 05:35 PM Author Share Posted January 31, 2019 at 05:35 PM I’m gonna need capability for more than 10. A lot more. I don’t have excel but I’ll keep looking. I can store the jpgs with it separately if needed.

LeeG Posted January 31, 2019 at 07:20 PM Share Posted January 31, 2019 at 07:20 PM You might look at https://keepersecurity.com/vault/. It's a password manager app but can store much more. I have tons of data stored in it. If you but a yearly membership you can get on up to 5 devices. All will open on the same master password. Data entered sync's to every device and all is encrypted. You can download documents also. I have all my firearms information stored in mine. Have been using Keeper for 5 or 6 years now and it works perfectly. It's not made specifically for firearms but it will work very well.

Windows, MAC, Unix, IOS, Android, etc Ive seen older inventory systems that have become free but no longer updated yet with features to do what you want. Others have had author disappear a couple of years post purchase. Ive got an old one based on a Visual Basic app but as time goes on, it can get a little flakey once in a while. Open source look at open office or libre office. Close enough to Excel and so far have not had a file I could not open in any of those. https://www.maketecheasier.com/libreoffice-vs-openoffice/
2smartby1/2 Posted January 31, 2019 at 08:35 PM Share Posted January 31, 2019 at 08:35 PM I would say excel....on a thumb drive stored in a safe. You could take photo's as well...stored on the same thumb drive (delete photo's from phone/camera)...and kept in a safe. No way would I use an app or program. BigBL87 Posted February 5, 2019 at 12:58 AM Share Posted February 5, 2019 at 12:58 AM This is what I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.himeware.gunvaultpro&hl=en_US I use it primarily so if I kick the bucket, my wife knows what I own and what it's worth when it comes time to get rid of it. They do have a free version too, but I like using the ammo tracking function so I can keep track of what I need to restock. Here's the free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.himeware.gunvault&hl=en_US
Chitownshooterz Posted February 5, 2019 at 01:06 AM Share Posted February 5, 2019 at 01:06 AM I made up a nice Excel sheet listing make, model, serial number, price paid, place of purchase, etc. Also includes a picture of the gun and a link to the scanned in receipt from the place of purchase. Stored on two thumb drives in case my computer gets stolen. Zero cost.
