jwarren10101 Posted June 17, 2020 at 05:31 AM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 05:31 AM Has Midwest Guns always had a policy of not selling ARs to Cook County residents? Or is this a development because of the SCOTUS denial of cert? Euler Posted June 17, 2020 at 06:09 AM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 06:09 AM They probably just don't want to have to look up if you live in a home rule municipality. The law doesn't change because of a cert denial.

Capt_Destro Posted June 18, 2020 at 04:28 PM Share Posted June 18, 2020 at 04:28 PM It sucks, but their business their rules. It's worth avoiding Cook County or finding a FFL that understands pre-emption/Home rule Gunshops blame us for voting these people in though. In most cases they run unopposed. Their laws passed are by decree and always have been. Gunshops that haven't gone out of county/to home rule towns are going to slowly suffocate Its a head scratcher though, I'm amazed shops are still around in municipalities that follow Cooks AWB. Pretty much why Bridgeview Sports failed so bad. A brick/mortar store with high prices I'd made even worse by cook sales tax and the gun tax Say a store gouges the price on a S50 Anderson lower and it's priced at $100. It would cost nearly $135 after taxes. People will take their business elsewhere. I think shops are just being over cautious in this area right now. Or did they send out a cease and desist? Ironic as heck if true They did nothing for rooting/riots. Release criminals/Etc but want people disarmed. Municipal laws that go against the constitution are a joke. It's easy for an individual to refuse to comply, but businesses are kinda screwed.

At least that was two years ago! That was the case once and probably still is. While they could legally do so, I suspect after Cook/Chicago sent undercover teams into Cook and collar county bordering stores, the Mega lawyers said it wasn't worth the risk. Ive also read SPointBlank Hodgkins is another. If true, I assume because of being in Cook also

Presumably the traffic court clerk and the zoning board secretary shouldn't be able to get letters from their supervisors, since their jobs don't involve using a gun. And government workers are all scrupulously honest, too.
