  1. Many people never let facts and logic get in the way of emotion. They argue for things that have never worked yet “feel” that it should work so they’ll keep trying it again and again.
  2. Nice to see, thanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the “but the other 29 or 30 states are ‘different’ from us” and explanations from the control freaks in states like IL when there is no negative impact from permitless in SC.
  3. St. Benitez leverages Bruen to overturn a 100+ year old law in CA. Wondering what the appeal will look like and when a panel will rule that clubs, despite their use for thousands of years before the 2A was written, are clearly military weapons that only the government can possess… https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/federal-judge-reverses-rules-californias-ban-billy-clubs-107568895
  4. Spoiler alert: it’s not IL. It’s Louisiana. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/another-state-races-to-become-constitutional-carry-state/ar-BB1iUjbV
  5. Thank you. I’d like to verify that with text of a law but haven’t been able to. Not that your LGS source is wrong but others certainly have been in certain cases. Will have to keep digging…
  6. Would you mind sharing your source on that? I cannot find a link to clear law there. There is a thread about “Cubs Rooftops” in this Forum where a clear law was not turned up if I recall. Sword canes can be shipped to IL but maybe it depends on where it is carried or maybe there was a recent law change? This app says they’re legal in IL: https://kniferights.org/resources/legal-blade/
  7. Bost’s own website claims he urged the Trump administration to look into bump stocks before it was passed. That sounds like he is proudly claiming leadership on this infringement. Others may have made the same mistake but that doesn’t make Bost’s any better. And he’s still flaunting it on his own website. Since this is a 2A-rights focused site, the choice between the two candidates on this issue is clear to me.
  8. It’s like the dog that finally caught the truck and doesn’t know what to do. I have to wonder if the “leadership” of IL assumed this crappy law would get thrown out before effective date as it was mainly a virtue signal and is shocked it wasn’t. Given how poor their effort has been to follow their own rules, one could assume that of competent leaders. However, in the case of IL, competence should not be assumed.
  9. Related to green vs red, I personally see green better in most situations. I'd suggest you run over to a local gun store (most bigger shops seem to carry Holosun these days) if possible and look at both colors against a variety of backgrounds/colors to check color and dot size. The local shops in IL can probably use the business anyway given what's happened with IL gun sales and Holosun prices seem to be at list typically. Some people love big optic dots for CC (like the XS Big Dot front sights), some people love a smaller one. Some people also prefer the dot-in-a-donut style, some just like the dot, some just like the donut. If you like your current rifle red dot, you probably can't go wrong with either color or model as their stuff is solid.
  10. Thank you for the federal reminder. One common example is stand-alone Post Office locations where firearms are not even allowed in the parking lot. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/federal-ccw-law/federally-banned-locations-for-carrying-firearms/ https://www.handgunlaw.us/states/illinois.pdf
  11. Even with much practice and repetition with the fastest reflexes of my youth, I do not believe I could orient myself to retrieve a key, open a locked box, retrieve and properly grip a handgun, and rack it in the event of a REAL emergency, especially with a seatbelt on in the confined space of a car’s drivers seat. It would be faster to hit the gas pedal and hope to drive out of the situation while saying a prayer. Related to carrying on the front seat in a “bread bag” case: technically legal but a heavy missile in the event of a crash that may cause harm or exit the vehicle. Same potential for some of the gun magnets. Please consider a holster, even a car mounted one, for quick access while driving. No offense but (since I was where you are once mentally) I would recommend some training to feel comfortable carrying a loaded gun or just carry a blunt object to strike with instead that has longer reach than the small unloaded pistol. If you want serious answers, hire a lawyer or pay for more firearms training to understand the complexities as this free forum advice is only worth what you’re paying for in a legal situation. Mods, since some of this has been asked before and will be asked again, perhaps you can move this to a forum section that make it more likely to be found in future searches?
  12. Wow, a mess. Thanks for sharing that background, appreciate it.
  13. Can you elaborate on that or point me to any info sources please? That’s something I hadn’t heard about and would like to learn more. Thanks!
  14. You used up all the facepalms from the interwebs this week so I can’t echo your reply 😀 Hmmm… so maybe people can wait until the police arrive at their homes and then register and they won’t be charged? If you think you couldn’t find a way to make things more unclear, this state’s leadership will break down barriers to find a new way. Ridiculous…
  15. I wouldn't go there for ammo anyway given the extra Cook County ammo tax. GAT is 10 minutes away outside of Cook County and there are other options as well.
