BigBL87 Posted December 22, 2018 at 05:37 AM Share Posted December 22, 2018 at 05:37 AM Thanks to recent purchases, I now have two rifles without scopes, and two scopes to go with said rifles. I had an idea for which should go with which but I want to get some outside opinions. The two rifles are: Savage 10 FCP (Heavy barrel), .308-Primary use will be hog hunting at my sister-in-law's in Arkansas. PSA Freedom AR-15, 5.56/.223-Primarily for fun with some coyote hunting on the side. The two optics are: Weaver Kaspa Tactical 2.5-10x50https://www.natchezss.com/weaver-kaspa-tactical-series-rifle-scope-2-5-10x50mm-illum-mil-dot-reticle-37-7-10-4-fov-3-74-3-15-er-matte.html Primary Arms 4-16x44https://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-4-16x44-illuminated-mil-dot-scope-pa416x My original plan was for the 2.5-10 to go on the .308 as it will be used in more wooded areas and probably won't justify as much magnification, whereas the AR will be used on more open farmland here in Illinois. luckydawg13 Posted December 22, 2018 at 01:57 PM Share Posted December 22, 2018 at 01:57 PM To be honest I would sell off the scopes I would put this on the 308 https://www.cabelas.com/product/LEUPOLD-RIFLEMAN-RIFLESCOPES/2421096.uts?slotId=13and this on the 5,56 / 223 http://www.opticsagent.com/RED-2-7X33MM-ACCU-PLEX-REVOLUTION-MATTE_p_1143.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8q6wyMqz3wIVB4FpCh117Ae0EAQYAyABEgI8Q_D_BwE but if you want to use the ones that you have now your plane is the way I would go too
RandyP Posted December 22, 2018 at 02:32 PM Share Posted December 22, 2018 at 02:32 PM I'd agree with your choices. Slighlty larger light gathering diameter for the hog rifle, higher magnification for pest control. I admit I don't hunt and have nothing against coyotes in general... now prairie dogs are just rats with more fur - lol
