steveTA84 Posted April 6, 2019 at 11:28 PM Share Posted April 6, 2019 at 11:28 PM Saw article roaming around social media A case in Southern Illinois provides gun owners in the Land of Lincoln with our best chance ever to overturn the unconstitutional FOID card system. And instead of securing the best Constitutional law attorneys in the nation, the folks at Illinois Carry and ISRA are planning to use ISRA's general counsel David Sigale on the case.............Even though the Illinois State Rifle Association is the NRA's state-level affiliate, the ISRA didn't contact the NRA to secure the million-dollar legal team to represent Ms. Brown in her case. No, they instead contacted the Second Amendment Foundation, who undoubtedly offered to pay a big part, if not all of the legal challenge to the FOID Act.And in Illinois, one of the SAF's go-to attorneys is David Sigale. Who is David Sigale? He's also the ISRA general counsel and a small shop attorney who has done some constitutional cases in the past. He worked with Alan Gura on the McDonald decision, for instance. So he must be at least a decent attorney. Having spoke personally with the Firearms Policy Coalition about our work (off of ILCarry), they spoke highly of Sigale. But whats going on????? Im sensing tension.

mauserme Posted April 6, 2019 at 11:49 PM Share Posted April 6, 2019 at 11:49 PM The defendant declined the help offered by the NRA, opting instead to accept the Second Amendment Foundation's help. Being her decision in this criminal matter, we should all be respectful of her wishes. Since we've spent the last 3 days arguing about this, to the point that it was requested we remove those posts, I'm closing this topic. There's a Facebook thread you can participate in if you wish, though I don't think Ms. Brown has yet to put her defense up to a popular vote. Molly B. Posted April 7, 2019 at 01:20 AM Share Posted April 7, 2019 at 01:20 AM I would like to add that we have a policy on IllinoisCarry of not bashing other Second Amendment groups. Doing so only serves to divide and conquer. To post their links and their comments/attacks here on IllinoisCarry provides the means to further the attack. We just don't do that. If anyone truly has questions about this, they are welcome to contact me, unless you just plan to repeat the nonsense attacks. In that case I don't think the conversation would serve either of us well.
