  • 2 weeks later...

My question is this... how much time from the time it goes Active to the time the license is in the mail?

Well, it goes ACTIVE when printed. So then cards from that print run need to get sorted and stuffed and batched...not sure if USPS is pick up or delivered to...then you have USPS processing and delivery, so depends on how long each of those takes and where your card print is in the cycle. Could be a few days to a couple of weeks.

Like others have said there are a few things that take time after you see "active" but from my personal experience it took exactly 7 days from the day it went active until I had the card in hand. I've read hundreds of threads and probably at least 1,500 posts and alot of that I've read multiple times and I've noticed people getting the card in hand after they went active in as little as 3 days. 4 days seems average but I'd absolutely expect it to take a week with everything going on.

I submitted a FOID address change on 5/5/20.

I submitted my CCL on 6/11/20.

Today, 10/12/20, they both still show "Under Review."

When I do the inspect thing, my CCL still just says "Submitted."

It's been over 120 days now. Shouldn't it be further along?

rwyeth, I applied about a week (with fingerprints) after you and I'm also at "Under Review"/"Submitted". Looks like some people got it within 90 days. I am in Cook County, I'm wondering if that has any impact on the timeline.

I applied on 06/03/20 (no prints) and status is still under review and inspect element shows submitted. Unfortunately, I think we just have to continue to wait.

Yes I would think this would have been further along compared with my experience as stated above in Post #428. Is this a CCL renewal and/or did you submit with prints?

It was not a renewal, and I did not submit prints.

I'm in rural Carroll County. So, that's not the issue.

I submitted new CCL application 1/12/2020 (270+ days) no prints

Submitted FOID renewal 4/28/2020 (160+ days) It was set to expire 7/1/2020.

Money was taken instantaneously.

Status has been under review forever.

What can I expect? Other than more delays. What are options if this gets to 360 days?

you submitted the foid after the ccl and that stops all movement on the ccl and resets the clock until the foid is approved

prior reading would have proven good news as you didn't have to renew the foid as fast as you did and there are threads about not doing such after a ccl app.

CCL Application:

Applied: 6/19/2020

- wiith fingerprints

- no criminal background; had a ticket around15+ years ago

90 days later (9/17): Status is still Submitted

I guess was hoping things were starting to 'speed' up based on PezMar66, The Specialist, and wallet113. :(

So today I received an email from the ISP. Seems I have delay due to my TCN (for fingerprints) was invalid. I called the vendor who provided the fingerprinting service for by CCW class and he already knew what the problem was as soon as I told him i received a letter from the ISP. He said he would follow up with ISP on the mixup. Anybody else have this problem?

Let's see how long this takes now.

I received this same letter from the ISP about my TCN being wrong. I called the vendor the same day and he was aware of the issue as well and stated there is nothing to do. You will have your card next week. So I sat patiently after freaking out and I had my card like 5 days later. I think you'll be good.

That sounds logical, if that’s the case, with the fact I’m a little further down here in Texas. Something postmarked in Chicago, gets to me in 5 days. Postmarked Monday I get it Saturday. That’s Chicago. So once I see it go active, I would be willing to bet it would be in my hands within 10 days.

Now to get my class done!

Sitting at 118 days today without prints. Still not sure if it's 120 business days or 120 Calendar days. The wait continues.

The days specified in statute really dont matter at this point. From this week:

..."Illinois State Police say the average time for FOID card processing is 116.35 days. FOID cards are supposed to be processed within 30 days.

For Concealed Carry Licenses with fingerprints to go with the applications, ISP said the average time is 129.9 days. Without fingerprints with the application, its 154.19 days."...

..."Delays in processing FOID cards have been a problem since before the COVID-19 pandemic. In January, about 62,000 applications backlogged with some people waiting eight months or longer. Six months later, officials reported nearly 64,000 backlogged applications. As of Tuesday, Illinois State Police reported 142,324 pending FOID applications."...

And in the meantime Florida is averaging a 55 day turnaround and even quicker if you have a DD214 or Military ID!

Applied June 4 2020

Went "Under Board Review" August 25 2020

Was due to a Class B Misdemeanor Arrest I had this year (Yes, Class B Speeding Misdemeanors are now arrestable offenses).

Never had a problem with the law in my life other than that and never been convicted and even that case was dismissed based on the officer's incompetence.

Today is now October 18 2020. Waiting as patiently as I can. 136 days later!

Also, I was told that I would receive a letter every month in regards to extending the "Board Review" process. However, I have not received any after the initial one. The initial one also never stated what I was reported for. Not sure if that matters. No appeal letter request listed on the ISPFSB site either. If anyone is in the same boat or has been please let me know! Good luck everyone !!!
