geo.ulrich Posted March 23, 2018 at 08:59 PM Share Posted March 23, 2018 at 08:59 PM so much for his support of a national conceal carry, I contacted my representative a few days ago (12th district ) and wasn't feeling good about his thoughts. of course my senator being Durbin would have been a wasted call. Patriot Millennial Posted March 24, 2018 at 02:00 AM Share Posted March 24, 2018 at 02:00 AM Just playing devil's advocate, it also includes allowing the CDC to research gun violence. Perhaps that research will show what we all know; more guns in the hands of good people means less crime. Therefore, we will have evidence that the legislature can use to push reciprocity through. I have faith in President Trump and his art of dealing. Give them something to make them think they've won, when in reality it'll just help us. Or maybe I'm wrong and he's a schmuck. We'll just have to wait and see.No, this is the worst part of it. They are taking money away from legitimate science and lifesaving investigation to create propaganda to disarm us. Gun violence studies are junk science. They rely on observational statistics with extreme bias. It's just funding more studies for idiots that say stuff like "the numbers don't lie" yet have never passed a statistics class. It's taking funding away from doctors and giving it to social pseudoscience almost dropouts. This is one of the more dangerous pieces of legislation in that bill. I mean if the Republicans wanted to do it right they would of funded some liberal degenerative disease study. It's about the same level of science. Can you tell me exactly what it added back? Seriously, I don't know what exactly it did yet. There was an act passed that if you were on social security and appointed somebody to manage your finances you would be put into the NICS system so you couldn't buy. This was really the only major gun legislation passed under Obama via an executive action. Yeah, the tax stamp laws also got changed a bit but there was some good and bad with that. Trump repealed this EO. FixNICS put it back in. It was a law that disproportionately affected veterans and the elderly.

chicagoresident Posted March 24, 2018 at 04:01 PM Share Posted March 24, 2018 at 04:01 PM It's the intellectual equivalent of the right funding studies on the dangers of abortion to unborn babies. It's not providing anything, it's just attempting turn a very hotly disputed opinion into a fact. The findings of the study can be summed up in 3 or 4 words. Woman's right to choose VS abortion is murder. Whoever is in control of the funds gets to use taxpayer dollars to declare one or the other. Guns dont kill people VS guns kill people. Molly B. Posted March 24, 2018 at 09:44 PM Share Posted March 24, 2018 at 09:44 PM I saw this in a post on social media - is it true? It’s not an official ‘Federal Budget’. It’s an Omnibus bill…not a Budget…He outsmarted them again…Congress basically screwed themselves by not passing a Budget…Per the Constitution…the President must adhere to a Budget set forth by Congress and direct the expenditures as provided therein. This is another one of those big Porkulus Bills, like they gave Obama for 8 years. This is not a Budget..An Omnibus Spending Bill may have some ‘instructions’ as to how the money will be spent…but Obama ignored them.He spent the money, or didn’t spend it, however he wanted to.And Congress didn’t do a thing about it! Because they couldn’t..I think our President observed how this happened, year after year.He is bound to realize that those ‘appropriations’ for different things in these Omnibus bills…are merely ‘suggestions’.So like Obama, Pres Trump can spend this money on whatever he wants to.Or…not spend it.Planned Parenthood? What if our President decided to tell the Treas Dept to ‘slow-walk’ that money to Planned Parenthood…until the Senate gets off their a** and confirms his appointees?Sanctuary Cities? What if our President decided to ‘slow-walk’ that money too…until those Sanctuary Cities assist ICE in rounding up criminal illegal aliens?Splodey heads? From the Dems and the Enemedia? Why yes. There would be a colorful display of splodey heads. But what could they do about it.Hah.Our President could just say…’What! Congress should’ve passed a Budget.’done finished…research was done…and it is so very humorous actually….our VSG..just said just give me money for the military and the wall…put anything else you want in it…and those goofballs did.In this case, as per above….he doesn’t have to spend a dime….because it is not a budget…and even if it was…researched….he could still spend as he please…Congress appropriates….up to the President to spend it…or not….as he pleases..If anyone disagrees, I can go back and get the links and evidence, but if you just read yesterdays political thread…Wheatietoo and I laid it all out for all…Wheatietoo did most of the work and put together the consolidated update as per above….Again, that is why Obama never had a Budget in his Presidency…Congress did continual Omibus’s and he just took the money….for 8 years…and no one seems to know where it went…

Hipshot Percussion Posted March 24, 2018 at 11:10 PM Share Posted March 24, 2018 at 11:10 PM I voted for Trump and I don't regret it. I never thought he was a Conservative - I thought he was very centrist on a lot of things. I supported Rand Paul, then Cruz, but when it was Hillary vs Trump, I was (and am) Trump all the way. If things go the way I think they will, all this gun garbage will go away with the selection of one more SCOTUS originalist. If Kennedy retires this year as is speculated, that gives up a solid 5-4 advantage. Then it's a matter of holding the Presidency through 2020 and getting another pick for Ginsburg (no way she is still on the bench at 90) and possibly one more - Breyer -. Then the Legislators can make all the Rights infringing laws they want and we get what we want - a SCOTUS that breaks their backs one by one. The most important thing for us now is to hold the House and pick up a couple Senate seats in November. The Senate has 34 seats up for election - 24 dem and 10 rep - I don't believe for a second the Dems will hold all 24 seats AND pick up 2 of those 10 Rep seats. I believe we just might pick up one or two. I think the House is just to deep in Rs to lose its majority. The next two elections set the course for the next two generations because of SCOTUS. If we can get the SCOTUS we want, no matter what the Dems do in the future with Legislation, SCOTUS will kick it to the curb. And that's all I care about at this time. I trust Trump to do right by us over the long haul. I trust Trump to always be one step ahead of the swamp. But I don't think he will do everything the way I would do it. No candidate can. And if anyone thought Reciprocity was going to happen after Parkland, I don't know what to tell you. It's an election year, no matter what Trump wants, believes or thinks, there is no way Reciprocity gets touched till after November. The swamp is still alive, and for now, he needs to give the R's some cover going into November. Bringing up Reciprocity would be cutting off the fingers of the Dutch Boy at the Dyke... it would just make a bad situation worse. JMHO
