Illinois CPZ sign posted in INDIANA store

So...I'm in the market for a replacement sump pump.....(float switch is acting up)

I go to the company website and am directed to a supplier in East Chicago IN....

Lo and behold as I'm walking up I notice the ILLINOIS CPZ sign posted in the window.

Guy at the counter asks if he can help me. I tell him what I'm looking for, but then tell him I will only make the purchase if the GFZ sign comes down. I also let him know that the sign is from IL and that signs in IN do not carry the force of law. He tells me that the VP posted it......I ask for contact info and he hands me a sheet with their Chicago location on it.

The next supplier is 20 minutes further away and costs $20 more, but I'm going to send a copy of my invoice to them once I get the contact info for the VP directly.

Isn't that against the law for a business in Indiana to be following statutes from another state? Surely there must be a legal repercussion for this kind of thing, reporting the business to some sort of regulatory agency or the local unit of government or some such?

I am not sure if you are aware but, the Indiana legislature was so impressed with the efforts in Illinois that they are going to adopt our concealed carry statute, and ready for this....introduce their own FOID card in April......we sure showed them.

No "repercussions" so to speak but in indiana a sign prohibiting the carriage of firearms is only worth the paper it is printed. It does NOT carry the force of law. The Illinois sign is worth even less over there as indiana would have 0 authority to prosecute someone under that law.

So, atleast in indiana you can Ignore those signs and "carry" on.

disclaimer: While the sign has no force, a private property owner can ask you to leave the store due to your firearm (or any other reason) and failure to comply will get you a trespass citation.

Please tell me you're kidding...

I was going to suggest that no other state would be that stupid, but then there's NY, MA, NJ, WA, etc....

Funny, I read that they are Proposing to eliminate the Law Requiring a CCW License for Indiana Residents and that it has a lot of Support.
