I just felt my credit card groan lol.

Well, they're not originals. They're not "exact" copies. Dunno why anyone would think these obsolete things to be worth $5k, but rest assured it won't matter in Crook, as they'll be banned.

Ask a 1911 fanboy?

Milspec 1911's are cheap, and hold just as many rounds as any "modern" single stack .45 acp pistol. You can get an updated one with night sights, upswept beavertail, and accessory rails for the same price as a Sig P220, which ain't far off from the 1911 from a technical viewpoint.

Now a morningstar ... those things oughta be banned! ;)

I'd have a hard time justifying a 5K purchase of one, but if the price dropped down to under 2K, I'd be in.

For 5K I can build the 338 lapua I have planned. Far more guns are higher up on my wanted list at this point in time that don't cost anywhere near as much.

Mark my words though.....those first few batches are going to sell out extremely quickly and then end up on gunbroker for 8-10K.

For all of the use it will actually get you can get a damn fine .338 Lapua bolt gun in a Savage 111 Long Range Hunter for around $1,100 and put $3K into a Nightforce BEAST and have an amazingly good deal on the combo for around $4300 with a bipod....unless you are going to spent the $$ for a Barrett it would be more rifle than you would likely ever use. The .338LM would be a great round for home defense in a condo building in the city too.

Lol! I actually looked at that Savage but am leaning toward going with a custom action and match grade barrel from Shilen, the Nightforce you mentioned is on my list, but I haven't quite figured out which stock I'd want. The nice thing about the Shilen action is that it's based on the Remington 700 so the stock options are endless.

IMO a Mcmillan would be the only stock fitting for such a build.

I agree that if you could knock them down to around 3k the market would open up on those things, I'd be extremely tempted at 3k, not so much for the fact the gun does anything special, but more for the cool history factor of it. Being a WW2 nut also pushes me that direction. I still think they will sell well to collectors of WW2 arms as the real thing is near impossible to get a hold of.
