Biden walks back threats of Executive Orders on gun control.

“I am not going to violate the Constitution. Executive authority that my progressive friends talk about is way beyond the bounds,” he said.

But, he said, he would not seek to use executive action to mandate policy changes that he has long said are up to Congress to make.

Biden cited gun control as an example, saying that if he signed an executive order banning assault weapons, a future Republican president could undo that ban and use it as a precedent to drastically expand gun rights.

This is potentially some really great news. We'll see how it plays out.

This is more about defining the method of his intended gun control rather than walking back the intention itself.

He has stated this is how he's going to get gun control done, and recognizes it's limitations. He has intent, but will he spend political capitol to get Bloomberg's bidding done?

If it's true, It's good news, no matter how you slice it.

If they take senate they won’t need executive action.

That's assuming that every single Democrat will vote for gun control. Be kind, contact your representatives, and stay in their business. They won't pass any significant gun control without EOs, that's my guess.

I want cold hard facts! Not guessing my AR’s life depends on it!!

"But, he said, he would not seek to use executive action to mandate policy changes that he has long said are up to Congress to make."

Two days later:

"I said WHAT???"

Didn’t Obama say the same thing for 6-7 years about immigration before doing a 180 and making immigration law via DACA?

DACA was to keep people who were essentially Americans here and with a path to citizenship like they should have. Many didn’t even know they were illegal immigrants. That was an EO that was correct in doing so.

There is no path to citizenship in DACA.

The Dream Act, introduced in 2001 and never passed, had a provision for citizenship.

Directly no but indirectly yes, the deferred action allows to apply as a LPR which in turn after allotted time allows you to become a citizen.

My point was Obama pushed for “comprehensive immigration reform” for 6 years all the while saying he did not have the constitutional power to do it by EO. He then turned around and did what he said he could not do.

His VP at the time was Biden and the example of ignoring the separation of powers is there if you care to look.

I made no judgment on immigration, illegal or otherwise

I guess if you like to constantly be on defense his intentions are great. Personally, I get a littlle tired of it.

Considering the source, the influences on that source, and the ultimate aim of the socialists that are aspiring to power at this very moment....

And the way that danged Constitution keeps hindering their plans so they have to 'talk pretty' for a while, first.

Fixed that for you............

Incorrect.

DACA was to keep cheap labor for cronies here. If you think politicians don't serve their cronies, you haven't lived in this country long.

We're always on defense. That's the nature of the game. I don't like it, but this is what it is.

please provide some evidence on that................

Illegal aliens work for a fraction of the pay Americans do.

This means lower labor costs. This means more profits.

This means bigger bonus checks for CEO's.

If you think that these people would not be buying politicians of both halves of the one party system to ensure they can get cheap labor, you're not paying attention.

Great speculation there, got some credible sources? Or is this the same as all patriots buy American made?

You know most illegals dont work for CEOs they work in small businesses where they dont need a SSN or ITIN.

Sorry but, no it wasn't, not legally and Constitutionally. That isn't within the Executive Office's powers, nor is any gun ban. That is the whole point. And, from practical matter, it's incorrect, as any POTUS can rescind it.

They must be feeling good about Georgia.

I think it's the opposite, they know they aren't going to take the Senate so they are setting the stage for blaming Biden's inevitable failure to deliver any policy promises on GOP obstruction. Its probably better for them anyway, they get way more mileage out of playing the victim than they do from anything they actually pass
