Democrats already have begun to turn the tide in GOP suburbs

...In 1995, the suburbs were the center of Illinois Republican universe, the bucolic backyards the home of the leaders of the state legislature as they strove to drive an agenda as a political force to be reckoned with for future generations

Now, nearly a quarter-century later, it is the Democrats who have advanced in collar counties that were once the Republican firewall to Chicagos massive Democratic vote a confluence of changing demographics, uncertain GOP messaging and a partisan mapmaking process

While Democrats talk of a blue wave sweeping nationally as Election Day approaches on Tuesday, its clear that theyve already begun to turn the tide by encroaching into the traditional GOP-leaning suburbs. The votes cast there will be key in determining Illinois immediate future, with potential long-term political consequences for both political parties as ballots are cast for governor, the states congressional delegation and deciding the makeup of the General Assembly.

And among those suburban areas, there is no place more central to Illinois fate than DuPage County, where there has been an evolution politically, ideologically and demographically....

As soon as some members on here start waking up and realize that this is not the political fight of yesterday, give me a call. These are not blue dog Dems, these are Socialists. They want us GONE, plain and simple. They come to our areas, attempt to change our way of life, and villianize us (calling us Nazis, racists, bigots) if we don’t agree with everything they believe. Time to wake up folks, it’s the way it is now. Meet the new DNC. The future of the party

Democrats are like a disease, they just spread their hate a little a time, never wavering, never stopping. Unlike Republicans that want change right now, dems are very patient and are willing to wait years to get what they want. Just like a mouse nibbling at the cheese a little at a time so as not to set off the trap. And they, will say and do anything untruthful or a plain lie to get their point across. For the life of me, I don't understand why the Republicans can't learn from these lessons. Take that bit on tonight's news about the group in Idaho dressing up as illegal immigrants and a border wall, as soon as some liberal ahole protested, they apologized and took the photos down instead of standing up for themselves. These evil ******** have got to be overcome.

Its because people on our side have a conscious. They are willing to injury and even kill to get there point across. We want to keep the peace, they want to destroy everything we hold dear. I view myself as right of center (believe it or not, on social issues, I am liberal. I could care less if gays want to get married or if a woman wants an abortion. It doesnt affect me directly, so none of my business. I believe in individual choices and freedoms. However, forcing stuff down peoples throats is a no-go for me. People can disagree with me (Soundguy lol), but I dont dislike them or wish them harm. They have their opinion, I have mine. With the left, if you dont agree, u are subject to death. Case and point

Stop giving into their demands. They want us dead.

Won’t be long before someone comes along saying how Democrats ain’t all that bad and we need them for pro 2A stuff,

In 3, 2, 1 ....

I disagree. Democrats are what keep Madigan in power and Democrats put IL in the financial mess it is in now !!

Bingo.

However I have to give credit to some downstate Dems. If it wasn’t for a few of them, we wouldn’t have Concealed Carry. That said, ALL Chicago style Dems are poison

More Republicans than Democrats are leaving. That is what you are seeing.

Soon Illinois will be bankrupt.

This is why I’m selling a good part of my collection. We are pushing a snow ball up hill and sooner than later it gonna roll back over us.

We have been to the mountain top of gun rights in Illinois. Call me names, curse my opinion, whatever you hope for, the reality is 10s of thouands of us will be made into felons soon. The Illinois electorate wants this and will feel good once all these draconian laws are implemented. I’m not moving or hunkering down with a collection of contraband hoping for salvation from a court. It’s been a good run

In a state as messed up as Illinois but it’s over now and I’ve implemented a plan I can live with.

I can live with 10 round mags in my carry gun and no MSRs. I’ll still go to town halls, write letters, make phone call and fund my pro gun organizations. But I’ll do it under the new rules of the State of Illinois where I’m living out my life.

Combined with gerrymandered voting districts.

They've taken away my representation by cutting my formerly R districts into three pieces from north to south, then extending them eastward from @9600 west all the way to Cottage Grove, where the population density is probably three times as high. Both my state rep and state senator are SE Side Chicago D's. These areas have completely different social, economic, cultural and racial demographics, and absolutely conflicting interests of every sort. In short, they have rendered our votes absolutely meaningless. What, in reality, is the difference between that and simply forbidding us to vote in local elections? This is how they first neuter Rs' votes, then eventually force them out.

But we need to compromise and keep continuing to write letters to the legislators and tell them how unhappy we are......

For some reason, now that Illinois finds its in a deep hole, the voters solution is to dig faster. We can’t blame democrats for all our grievances. We’ve had an inordinate number of Republicans whos work has weakened this state. There are a few exceptions but if you have large urban areas they are most likely left leaning and drive the gun debate that direction. When I was a kid in Wheaton you could have fired a cannon down my street and not hit a known democrat. Some of my family still there but the politics have changed significantly.

I started reading up on the "Curley effect" - HOLY SMOKES... I see a LOT of parallels in both Illinois and the U.S.A.

I hope the original Curley is experiencing the inferno described by Dante, in perpetuity.

If Obama and his fellow progressives succeed in applying the Curley strategy on the national level, Americans will no longer be able to move to a new city or state to escape the withering economic impact of Curley-effect policies; their only option would be to leave the country. However, it appears that Obama has anticipated that response. To close the escape hatch from an Obama-Curley America, the president signed the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act that mandates closer monitoring of Americans’ offshore accounts. apparently approves of policies to impose financial penalties on anyone desiring to give up U.S. citizenship, and periodically calls for “global minimum taxes.”

THIS is what the progressives are fighting so hard for in this election (and running a bunch of manipulable new candidates), not guns although guns are a tool, along with healthcare and etc...

Trump administration has turned around TOO much of their plan already.

California's budget deficit is back, Gov. Jerry Brown says
Obama Care or the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is, IMO a wealth redistribution scheme and the rest of America pours 16 billion dollars into California's Medi-Cal program.
The article referenced above is from almost 2 years ago. It will be interesting to see exactly where California is in 2019 but Nancy Zettler's assessment of California's economic situation isn't accurate. California doesn't have a $6 billion surplus. Here is a chart of bond ratings by state. It really stands out how dire the situation is in Illinois. The party that is overwhelmingly responsible for this fiscal mismanagement is the democratic party of Illinois, the democrats have held the reins in the Illinois House of representatives for many decades. What is mind-boggling is that the recent election has given even more power to the party that created this horrible situation in the first place.

Illinois credit rating See also: Illinois state budget and finances

On June 1, 2017, Stanford and Poor's Global Inc. and Moody’s Investors Service, credit rating agencies, downgraded Illinois’ credit rating. S&P also said that it might downgrade the state's credit rating further if the state failed to adopt a budget. The downgrade placed the state’s credit rating at one step above a junk rating (a low rating which indicates the state is a high risk investment). At the time of the downgrade, the state had not passed a budget in two years due to disagreements between the Democratic state legislature and Republican Governor Bruce Rauner. According to S&P analyst Gabriel Petek, “the rating actions largely reflect the severe deterioration of Illinois' fiscal condition, a byproduct of its stalemated budget negotiations, now approaching the start of a third fiscal year.” Prior to this downgrade, Illinois' credit rating was the lowest in the country. If downgraded again, Illinois would become the first state to receive a junk rating from a credit agency.[6]

On July 6, 2017, the Illinois General Assembly passed a $36 spending plan and $5 billion tax increase. The legislature overrode Rauner's veto to pass the budget, which ended the two-year budget impasse. Moody's Investors Service said they may downgrade Illinois' rating despite the budget. On July 5, after the state Senate voted to override the veto, Moody's wrote that, "so far, the plan appears to lack concrete measures that will materially improve Illinois' long-term capacity to address its unfunded pension liabilities." S&P, in response to the budget passing, removed the state from its credit watch for a potential downgrade.[7][8]

On October 9, 2017, S&P maintained the state's BBB- rating following the state's plan to sell $6 billion in bonds. The agency told the state that it still faces fiscal issues that could push the rating down further.[9]

Interesting analysis

Democrats won the House by capturing districts all over the country, but their gains were greatest in districts that are predominantly suburban or at least have some suburban characteristics. This meant major gains in seats where voters’ presidential choice flipped from Republican in 2012 to Democratic in 2016, but also in seats where the GOP won in both presidential cycles. In the end, the suburbs — of varying political stripes — combined to put Democrats over the top, and it’ll be interesting to watch how this growing urban-suburban coalition governs.
