I need a new belt !

I'd get a good gun belt.

I saw a fairly thick leather belt at Kohls, it was around $32.00 so I thought I'd try it and save some money. I bought it and two weeks later the buckle sheared off. It looked like ZAMAK to me.

Some belt makers make belts from imperfect leather - this may be where a bull has a scar from fighting or running into barbed wire or such. If you don't mind that you can get a cheap gun belt made of sturdy materials for cheap.

I just bought a belt from Armour Belts. Mike Bissell, the nephew of Jerry Bissell of JB Gunbelts learned from and took over from his uncle and started Armour. I ordered the belt on July 4 and got it yesterday the 8th. It's thicker than my Beltman belts and could probably hold up a tank. Check them out.

Whatever you get make sure it's a two layer belt. Single layer belts will stretch and that's not what you want.

Like that's not going to draw attention...... Nothing like a low profile belt Lol!

I remember Robin Williams in Mork and Mindy with the rainbow colored suspenders.

These are pretty nice ... and very strong, too.

5.11 Tactical makes some decent nylon webbing stuff and it's reasonably priced. Their model 59568 "Double Duty TDU" belt is a reversible 1.5" belt that is double thickness -- it's actually two belts sewn together -- and is comfortable but also makes a good gunbelt for smaller, lighter weapons... If you want to carry a 1911 size/weight piece then check out their 1.75" wide double duty....

So how would you compare the two (Beltman vs. Armour)...beside thickness? General construction, quality, etc.?

Beltman is shinier. Armour edges are beveled as opposed to rounded on Beltman. Quality is equal. Armour is double stitched and Beltman is single. Armour costs a little less. Armour is a b**** to buckle but it isn't broken in yet.

Honestly, I think most of the leather gun belt makers all make the same quality belts. It's a matter of price, speed of delivery, and who you want to deal with.

Q1. My original question was on the width being 1 1/2 or if available a 1 7/8 belt for a Glock 23 size gun, Lighter than any 1911 but not tiny either.

Q2. Is a 2 inch belt too wide for some or most jeans?

I definitely agree with 1.5". I thought for sure I was going to be ordering a beltman belt, but now I'm considering Armour also...I like their quick turn-around...

Is that also true for a 1 3/4 inch ?

They don't make a 1 3/4". You don't need a belt that wide to support a bigger gun. The strength a stiffness of the belt does the work. I have a 1 1/4" Beltman belt that can support a 1911 just fine.

Just go for a 1.5" belt. It'll work with most if not all belt loops out there. 1.75" most likely won't work with nearly as many belt loops. Just make sure it's an actual gun belt and it will be plenty sturdy to hold your Glock 23. I have a Glock 19 and my 1.5" gun belt and leather OWB holster does a great job at holding it securely.

This belt. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/399322/galco-sb1-belt-1-1-4-leather-black

I've worn out parts of it due to carrying knives, tools and IWB holsters, but it is still holding up great. The Raven Concealment holsters beat it up though. Remember that you want 2 sizes larger that what you usually wear.

http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/ I just received my belt from him today!!! Try bersaforum in the coupon code at checkout. It should give you an extra 15% off. I got the 1 1/2 black belt. I wear a size 34 pants and ordered a 38 belt. Seems like a good fit. I didn't order the double stitching or stiffener. It seems plenty sturdy in the standard configuration.
