For taking such good care of them:

"The Obama administration, including Secretary of State John Kerry, has praised and thanked Iran for the way it treated the captured sailors, who were released by Iranian authorities the following morning."

This happened a while ago. And we would have done the same thing to an Iranian military ship that came into US waters. Standard operating procedure.

Thanking them for this one incident is not what makes them morons, its the fact the believe in a future where the US and Iran are going to be anything other than enemy's.

They are incredibly naive the left.

There is so much STOOPID with 'the prezzy'...

First they were captured..then they were 'helped'..blah..blah...

"Secretary of State John Kerry and others have cited the peaceful resolution as a “testament” to diplomacy and the new U.S.-Iran relationship, as they welcome Iran into the “community of nations.”

Forced to 'apologize'...

“It was a mistake. That was our fault. And we apologize for our mistake,” the sailor said, in a brief state TV clip posted on Twitter by a journalist with Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

And the kicker...

Looks like Iran considered enough of an 'operation' that they decorated those involved!

Iran’s supreme leader honors commanders who seized US navy boats

Iran’s supreme leader has awarded medals to navy commanders for capturing US sailors who entered Iranian territorial waters this month, Iran state media said on Sunday.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has said Iran should remain wary of its arch-enemy the US even after a landmark accord over Tehran’s nuclear programme, awarded the Fath (Victory) medal to the head of the navy of the Revolutionary Guards and four commanders involved in the seizure of two US navy boats.

Iran has awarded the Fath medal since 1989 to war heroes, military commanders and politicians, especially those linked to the eight-year Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s.

Did the prezzy give the 90 degree bow when our guys were returned?

Everything about the incident, Da Prezzy and Kerry's actions makes the US look like weak fools.

The sailors were wrong and Iran let them go with no drama. Nothing wrong with acknowledging that.

What's with all the armchair generals? This is one circumstance where a good PR move would be a good thing. If an Iranian ship accidentally wandered into our waters, the circumstances would likely be the same, or, possibly worse. Ever heard of Guantanamo Bay?

Unfortunately, the Iranians used them for a LOT of drama before they let them go. I'm sure a professional military would have disarmed them. They would not have forced them to their knees with hands on head while they did so. A civilized nation would not have filmed them in their holding area, using the tears of one seaman as propaganda tools. A civilized nation would not have filmed them being paraded through the streets to be mocked.

No. There was a lot of drama.

There's an old saying that the only the zebra and lion can coexist peacefully is if the zebra is inside the lion. That is what Iran sees for us. They do not wish to peacefully coexist with us. They have been trying to humiliate us since 1979. And Carter and Obama have let them get away with it.

The only "good" thing that can be said for the release of those seamen was that, when the news broke of their capture, I had flashbacks to Walter Cronkite telling us every night how long the personnel at the Tehran Embassy had been held captive. I was terrified that we were in for another 444 days of watching them parade our people around in blindfolds. Thank God we didn't have to live through that again.

Yep, crew members were released within 24hrs and their vessels returned per various news sources. If an Iranian crew had strayed into US waters our Navy would have done exactly the same thing. Stopped the vessels, disarmed the crews and taken them in for questioning. And yes, the US Navy would have videoed the whole event. Perhaps not releasing said video or images of detainees because that's not exactly the US style. However, our politicians would have used the incident to drum up nationalistic talk, fear of the great enemy and support for the party that protects America. No difference in governments between US & Iran, just the manner in which they promote and achieve their goals.

"Meanwhile, their vessels were taken by another American crew to Bahrain, their original destination and home to the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet."
