S&W 629 Holster Recommendation

I went to the Brownell's Gun Adoption event today (well really, just another trip to the LGS!) and came home with a new S&W 629 5" barrel in .44 mag. Not seeing as many choices in holsters as I would of thought. Looking for leather, OWB, something that will work to carry it during hunting/fishing/hiking.

this is what I use for Hunting CC a Ruger B/H with a 4 5/8 barrel I went with a cross draw because I hunt with a muzzle loader rifle and did not want to bang

the too together when i had the Rifle slung over my shoulder I also needed to be able to CC it when not hunting ( I hunt about 3 hours from home so I stay at a hotel )

and do not want to have two pistols with me I don't like to leave in Truck / Hotel anyway this is what I use for my Ruger https://www.mernickleholsters.com/ps/ps6sar1.htmlI did have them add a hammer strap thumb break to it This my one is for double action that may work for you https://www.mernickleholsters.com/ps/ps6dar1.html now if your just pistol Hunting this has worked well for me and my Ruger SBH with a 7 1/2" barrel https://www.google.com/search?q=pistol+packaging+bandito&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj7-4KPvILbAhXIzIMKHc-DBugQsAQIQQ&biw=1366&bih=662 if you will carry a rifle / shotgun to get a cross draw holster it is also works better when you sit down or sit in tree stand

There'll be a wait, but have three of these that I've used for about ten years now...

Very happy with them and how they've held up with the daily use for about five or six years of the ten.

Horsehide is what I'm recommending as it is stiffer and seems to hold up better than the cow hide.

Just about any holster for an N-frame Smith will fit your 629. A pancake holster (Grizzle, Alessi) gives good concealment under a medium length jacket. The butt is held tightly to your side. A 5" barrel is too long, IMO, for IWB carry. A heavy revolver like your 629 is very comfortable to carry in a shoulder rig, and easily concealed under a light jacket or vest (I carry concealed in the woods as to not alarm the tourists). Alessi is a good place to start. If concealment is not a concern, then a holster with a drop and offset is out of the way and very quick to bring a long barrel into action. Western style holsters by El Paso Leather are good, or a duty holster from Safariland.

Bianchi, Galco and other mass-produced holsters are okay in a pinch, but the leather is thin, they take a lot of break-in, they ride high but don't fit the belt tightly (drag up).
