Folks, never surrender any weapons if you havent committed a (real) crime. This is our opponents goal: to make us defenseless so we do what they say. The USA was founded so that people can be free from oppression. The founding fathers wanted a country where you could call a leader a As**ole and not worry about being imprisoned.

 

Our opponents try to take away our means of self defense not for safety, but for the goal of complete control. Case and point:

George Orwell, whom many pro-2A people like to quote, was a die-hard socialist who firmly believed in the right to bear arms (at a time when people in the UK actually had a right to bear arms). He fought on the side of the Spanish communists during the Spanish civil war against the Spanish fascists, too. He eventually stopped and complained "Hitler is making Stalinists of us all." By "us" he meant socialists.
