Seriously, the semi-auto ban Acevedo is trotting out changes very little from year to year. I wouldn't want to get complacent about it, but it shouldn't make anyone feel panic or start to think that we're losing somehow . . . Acevedo sponsors gun bans. That's what he does. That's what he's there for: to carry water for people higher on the ladder who wouldn't see him as useful if he didn't. He doesn't write these things, and he probably doesn't read them.

Same deal with The Littlest Mayor's handgun registry. It's not going to happen. He knows it's not going to happen and his staff knows it's not going to happen. Again, we should not be complacent; we do have to fight it. But we can beat it and they knew that before they put it out there. He's not putting his idea out because it will work, he's putting it out because it shows everybody that there's still a tough-talking anti-gunner in charge in Chicago.

Good post. And now comes before us "Mr. Johnny Come Lately Governor Quinn" who looked up long enough to see that "his party's hot button" of the week was gun control, so he thought he'd better get on board. So, he chooses an issue that has been soundly defeated before, in this session even, and throws it out there. After all, it's for the children, who he wants to cut education funding for.

Like Don says, we can't get complacent about any of the bills that they introduce. But, the majority of what they're throwing out right now don't stand a snow ball's chance of getting voted on, much less passed. They are there simply to distract us from our mission.

We are winning people!! They know it! Keep up the pressure come Monday morning. Call your legislators. If they support us, thank them. If they're on the fence, tell them you're looking for support and will use that support when you go to the polls in November. If they're against us, ask them to look at the facts, reconsider their postition and do the right thing.

Have a great Sunday!! Monday will bring new challenges and new opportunities!

Tim
