According to data that ISP provided in an email, 147,862 FOID card applications were received during the first four months of the disaster declaration, March through June. That was more than double the number received in the prior four-month period.

From July through September, ISP said it received 135,798 applications for new or renewed FOID cards.

There are currently more than 142,000 FOID card applications pending and more than 26,000 applications pending for concealed carry licenses.

This is criminal neglect of the states responsibility to protect the rights of the citizen. The street gang running Illinois want billions in bail out money from the feds. Any hear if they’re gonna give millions to the ISP to get up to date on the  FOID system?

It's my understanding the ISP has excess money and has been giving it back to the state's general fund, this is pure neglect, mismanagement and an intentional denial of rights.

The main problem is the law states the time the state has to process these but there is no punishment for the state when it does not meet its own set deadline. IF the state folks were being perped walked in cuffs to the local jail for not meeting the requirement, things would be different.

I dont know what the current fund amounts are (wonder if that is FOIAable)...seem to recall they got 2, or maybe it was up to 7 million, in last budget. They should force the state to return the $32M+ they swept to other state funds from the Firearm Services Bureau. They need more than a new $750k VoiP phone system.

Or how about the courts do their jobs and strike down this unconstitutional BS?

"You know, there are some words I've known since I was a schoolboy: 'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie, as wisdom...and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged..." - Capt. Jean-Luc Picard

“But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.”

Article I saw said, as of 10-13-2020, it's an average of 116 days for a FOID and 130 days for a CCL.

Meanwhile ... they piss away all that money on pet "No Bid" projects for their Contractor buddies.  Gotta buy those votes and make sure the campaign coffers stay full.

Nothing will change until gun owners with pending FOID apps, file a class-action against the state. I wouldn't even go after the FOID Act, I would just go after the state's requirement in the act, which forces people to renew every ten years and pay $10.
