We'll be able to use ISP portals on our new fangled mobile devices by July 2023. If only they had an extra $30M maybe they could do sooner... /s

 

Synopsis As Introduced

Amends the Department of Innovation and Technology Act. Provides that on or before July 1, 2023, the Department of Innovation and Technology shall create a plan to improve the provision of digital services, including modernizing websites and enhancing the use of data analytics for all State agencies. Provides that the plan created shall be posted on the Department's website. Provides for the contents of the plan to be submitted to the Department. Provides that on or before July 1, 2023, all State agency websites intended for use by the public shall be mobile-friendly. Provides that on or before July 1, 2023, all State websites intended for use by the public shall be accessible for persons with disabilities as provided under the Information Technology Accessibility Act. Provides that no public-facing State agency website shall become operational if it is not mobile-friendly and accessible by persons with disabilities. Requires the Department to adopt rules necessary to implement the provisions. Provides findings and purpose provisions. Defines "mobile-friendly". Effective immediately.

3 years to make it available to mobile devices

If we go by the current state time frames we will see this in 9 to 12 years

Kind of follows the FOID and CCL time lines but in years (30 to 120 days)

 

Most everything we are fighting for today will either be reaped or taken from our children

I don’t see where state is allowed to giveth and taketh in our declaration?

Governments deriving their just powers from the Consent of the Governed.... ? When did Illinois become a “thank you may I have another” type of state?

I still dont get how they thought it made sense to develop apps and websites within the last 3 to 5 years that would not work on mobile or support the disabled. Actually, I thought I did my original app on mobile and a couple of years ago they put up the dont do that message. Their business analysts, requirement definitions, development, and testing seems pretty weak....assuming they have a system vs just telling the outsourcer to go build something. Ask for their $30M back and just fix it. They shouldnt need a law.

Because the contract to build the contract goes to 'someone', they build it just enough to do the job, nothing more nothing less. Then they get the contract to 'redo' the whole thing because it just won't be feasible to just add mobile. The cycle of life for government contracts.

 

We build the road this year and lay all the concrete and asphalt. Then when we go to build an on ramp or off ramp we have to tear up what was just built last year.

 

Wash rinse repeat, make others wealthy, bleed the government for as much money as possible.

 

Ever notice a government budget never goes down?

I have always used my mobile on the site even for my CCW originally and renewal. No issues, same with my wife and to renew her FOID. Works with all our devices.

My original was done on mobile iirc before they put up the alert on page to not use. Supposedly it can cause a question answer to default to a value that gets you denied or under review.

My foid application went through on my android tablet. Then locked me out and wouldn't reset. Kept trying still locked. Gave up for 8 months. Then just before CCW class tried on computer and same reset answer used on phone and tablet worked. Luckily Foid account locked after it was accepted. Message about tablets and phone showed up after I was locked out.

:pinch: That sounds like this state - warning you NOT to do something AFTER you have already done so. :logik:
