FarmHand357 Posted May 23, 2018 at 03:58 AM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 03:58 AM I follow this guy on YouTube; some excellent suggestions here, especially about no longer publicizing a shooter’s face, picture, or name as a major deterrent to these types of murders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeKrOi2fQjc&t=6s
markthesignguy Posted May 23, 2018 at 06:10 AM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 06:10 AM RIGHT NOW?? Get a stream of attempted spree killer bodies (no names etc) FATALLY stopped at the start of their spree into the news. Get it in their mind it is now just suicide by cop. And with NO trial to be their soapbox. "Another loser attempted mass murder and failed, they were stopped in their tracks by an armed response.AS per policy (or maybe a LAW??) Their name was not released by law enforcement, andthis station will not attempt to identify them, their social circles nor the hero(s) that stopped them." Smallbore Posted May 23, 2018 at 12:14 PM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 12:14 PM Why not the heros?
BobPistol Posted May 23, 2018 at 12:41 PM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 12:41 PM Why not the heros? Because if they're cops, the anti-cop media won't bother to mention them. If they're law abiding citizens, the anti-gun media won't bother to mention them.
cybermgk Posted May 23, 2018 at 05:08 PM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 05:08 PM I follow this guy on YouTube; some excellent suggestions here, especially about no longer publicizing a shooter’s face, picture, or name as a major deterrent to these types of murders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeKrOi2fQjc&t=6s It's a long video, So as Inego Montoya says, let me summarize 1. Stop showing face, name etc of the killer.2. Allow for Teachers and staff that volunteer to train and be a concealed armed deterrent. Cause, Uniformed SROs may likely be targeted from now on.3. Non specific change on how we look at, look for and handle teen mental illness.
chicagoresident Posted May 23, 2018 at 05:40 PM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 05:40 PM I've been saying the same thing. It's almost the same advice that was given for cluster suicides by the CDC. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00001755.htm A good way to start would be to shame advertisers who's ads appear during coverage of school shootings. No restriction of press, but you take the money out of the news cycle.
Twostarrz Posted May 23, 2018 at 06:04 PM Share Posted May 23, 2018 at 06:04 PM How about lawfully armed retired veterans who would volunteer to ride around in the sports program golf cart? Free trained armed security sounds like a good idea to me. Let the one or two paid resource officers manage the points of entry and day to day stuff inside the school. Volunteers would form a perimeter only.
