I'm far from a computer and/or Java expert. But in my experience every problem I've had with Java has been remedied by going to the Control Panel and performing an uninstall of Java, then a reboot, and then doing a fresh install of the latest version.

Funny you say that, that's exactly what I am doing right now. Actually I didn't uninstall, I realized I didn't see the Java icon in the tool bar so I just installed. Then it said its already installed and asked if I want to reinstall so I said yes
