Jay6 Posted April 4, 2012 at 01:03 AM Share Posted April 4, 2012 at 01:03 AM I am looking to put a new front and rear sight on my Glock 23 and would like to find an armor near Decatur. Anyone have any ideas?
8x57 Posted April 4, 2012 at 01:10 AM Share Posted April 4, 2012 at 01:10 AM I think you mean "armorer", which I would call a "gunsmith" (for this application at least). I've never looked at a Glock close enough, but if it's like every other handgun I've had my hands on, you just tap the sights out of the dove tail groove using something that wont scratch things up and then tap the new ones into place. It should take a lot less time than driving to a Gunsmith.
Bud Posted April 4, 2012 at 02:08 AM Share Posted April 4, 2012 at 02:08 AM It's easier to use a sight pusher tool and they are always in demand. I am sure there are people here who live near you that may have one for you to borrow This one is from Glockmeister:
es503IL Posted April 4, 2012 at 02:10 AM Share Posted April 4, 2012 at 02:10 AM Have you considered doing it yourself? Glocks have very easy sights to replace. The front sight blade is held in place by a bolt, and the rear is "pushed" into place. I did mine with these, it took about 15 minutes start to finish.Front sight tool This is needed since the space between the front of the slide and the bolt is to tight for a regular socket. If you have a thin wall 3/16 it might work (anybody know for sure?).Rear Sight Pusher There are acouple of different type on Ebay for around $50, I have never used these so cannot speak to their preformance.Handgun Front/Rear Sight Pusher Universal Sight ToolJMT Sight Pusher Tool
xmikex Posted April 4, 2012 at 02:24 AM Share Posted April 4, 2012 at 02:24 AM Do it yourself. A hammer, wood blocks, etc. and you're GTG. XS Sight Install - pretty much the same concept for every sight.
