The below interpretation was sent to the East Dundee Police Department and they have made the decision to enforce this “guidance”. While GAT Guns does not agree with this interpretation or the decision to enforce these guidelines, this means that at this time our range is closed to the general public for the purpose of practice. We are currently communicating with the DCEO. The Village of East Dundee has also contacted the DCEO and the Governor’s office on our behalf.

We are making every effort to get the range back open as normal. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We will give you all updates as new information is made available to us.

Thank you,
GAT Guns Management

I think East Dundee would have to do that because they tax GAT guns an entertainment tax to use the range, if they admit it’s for practice for Second Amendment purposes they lose their amusement tax.

GAT should ask each customer their purpose, either practice or entertainment and let them go shoot depending on their answer.

I have been thinking of getting a S&W 327 Performance Center revolver. I have been staying away from Gat because it has been so packed with people. Now I may stop buy this week and buy/order one from them.

So nice you were waiting for them to take a hit business wise in order for you to buy from them. Glad that the EO rules were able to accommodate your needs :) ......

Essential Business FAQ updated 5-15-2020

Can outdoor gun ranges open to the public?

Outdoor gun/shooting ranges can open to the public, with restrictions. These businesses must employ the minimum number of staff necessary to maintain operations, including the range master. Congregating areas and the clubhouse must remain closed. Businesses must place social distancing by signage or other means to mark distances between users. Customers must be spaced at a minimum every other station or booth to comply with social distancing. The maximum number of customers permitted in the shooting area is half the total number of shooting booths/stations that are located at the range.

What about indoor gun ranges?

Indoor ranges should not be open to the public. However, these ranges may be used for law enforcement training and certification purposes.

Since when is going to the range "entertainment"? It's not like we can go in our backyards and practice.

I think Lombard charges an entertainment tax also... I haven't been to Article ll for a while but their website indicates "local taxes".

This is probably a more lucrative tax than the Cook Co gun and ammo purchase tax.

Someone needs to let them know that their requirement to wear a mask puts their customers in violation of the UUW statute and makes them commit a Class 4 Felony.

Yeah... this was addressed in the mask thread. There was even a note from ISP.

Response from ISP:

The Governors Executive Order regarding the wearing of masks or protective facial coverings in public settings during this serious global pandemic was not intended to negatively impact permit holders under the Illinois Concealed Carry Act while legally carrying firearms. The Executive Order does not require or suggest that law enforcement should arrest or criminally charge conceal carry license permit holders for wearing protective masks while in public as long as they are complying with the other provisions of the Illinois Concealed Carry Act and are not committing any other violations of Illinois law. ISP has confidence that law enforcement officers across the state will use appropriate judgment and that elected States Attorneys will likewise exercise sound prosecutorial discretion.

If you want to accept this response from the ISP as gospel that every LEO and States Attorney will do the right thing and will be looking out for your best interest then have at it.

End result is what the state statute says because that is what you will be held accountable to.

The ISP response is written so vague and so open for interpretation that I won't personally take the chance of losing my 2nd amendment right by being charged with a Class 4 Felony. If you are comfortable with this then by all means do as you see fit.
