runsthruammo Posted January 17, 2019 at 06:11 AM Share Posted January 17, 2019 at 06:11 AM Hey everyone! As my username implies, everytime I go to the range, I usually run thru my ammo pretty quickly. Even if I have 500 rounds, and take my time and work on my grouping and shooting, I usually go thru it in an hour. I like to buy in bulk to curb this, but I don't know where to go. Do you guys have any good recommendations for places that sell ammo in bulk at a cheaper rate then some of the mainstay places? I should mention it should be within a half hour to 45 minute drive from Waukegan at most, although something in the area is more preferable! Flynn Posted January 17, 2019 at 06:38 AM Share Posted January 17, 2019 at 06:38 AM Since most online bulk ammo sellers have free shipping (or very reasonable shipping) and their rates are generally cheaper than local places to start with, I would say order bulk ammo online... Weed Posted January 17, 2019 at 05:16 PM Share Posted January 17, 2019 at 05:16 PM I haven’t checked lately but Freedom Munitions had decent prices and you could usually get free or low cost shipping.

What the heck are you shooting it out of? I bet the next round of anti-gun bills making it past Madigan's goons include a bill outlawing online ammo sales. They are using us as their search engine. Flynn Posted February 8, 2019 at 02:59 AM Share Posted February 8, 2019 at 02:59 AM 500 rounds in an hour? What the heck are you shooting it out of? That amount is really not unrealistic if you don't mind the cost, especially if you have a decent amount of magazines and don't have to fiddle with constantly reloading. 500 rounds an hour averages out to over 7 seconds between trigger pull, even if you spend half the time reloading the magazines you are still at nearly a 4 second average between the trigger pulls. I can do 500 plus in an hour without pre-loading magazines at home, even while swapping out slides. Most lost time is in changing targets... I don't need to do that. I agree, 500 rounds sounds like a lot on the surface but it's really not hard at all to go through 500 rounds in an hour at the end of the day. RandyP Posted February 8, 2019 at 04:25 PM Share Posted February 8, 2019 at 04:25 PM What caliber plinking are you doing? You know, in case some reloader wants to follow you arouind for the free brass - lol Nothing wrong with just blasting away to burn up ammo, if that's your thing. For ME any much more than about 100 rounds per gun and I'm no longer really doing any quality practicing, just making noise and smoke, so I take a break and switch guns. I reload so it gives me time to retrieve as much of my brass as possible. Other than rimfire obviously.

Maybe at paper, but when you switch to moving targets and tactical skills training it's a different story, but you can't do that at a range.
