Happening in Colorado

The Fremont County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution declaring itself a Second Amendment sanctuary county.

Board Chair Dwayne McFall spearheaded the initiative that addresses HB19-1177, Extreme Risk Protection Orders, also referred to as a Red Flag bill, stating that the proposed bill does away with due process and violates the Second Amendment.

The boards resolution pledges its support for the county sheriff to not enforce any unconstitutional firearms law against any citizen and states that it will not authorize or appropriate government funds, resources, employees, agencies, contractors, buildings, detention centers or offices for the purpose of enforcing law that unconstitutionally infringes on the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

In anticipation of possible new Colorado gun control laws, the Montezuma County commissioners are leaning toward a resolution to declare the county a gun-rights sanctuary exempt from a proposed state law.

The Colorado Legislature is considering HB 1177, a red flag law meant to control possession of guns by individuals exhibiting extreme risk because of mental illness. Eighty residents gathered for the 9 a.m. public comment period that lasted two hours during the commissioners regular meeting on Tuesday.

The resolution is titled: Opposition to Infringement Upon the Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Colorado should stop letting Californians in their state to live and attemp to create another California like government.
Colorado has already let the fruits, nuts and flakes of California move into and polute their state. They are leading an effort to do away with the electorial college in Colorado.

At what point does something like this actually become more than simply a symbolic gesture, though? That's the important question.

With at least one, possibly two, county states attorneys publicly stating they won't enforce various gun laws. I think that is the point when and where it moves beyond symbolic.

When nullification from local officials takes place. THAT is happening in Southern Illinois. Shoot me a PM with your email address if you're interested in it. ;)

We are up to FIVE state's attorneys so far, with many more agreeing in private/ to be announced.

According to the report, resistance efforts have sprung up in Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and Illinois. Each of these has a Democratic governor and both of their state legislative chambers have Democratic majorities.

“The sanctuary movement is exposing the rift between rural and urban America as much as the one between the Republican and Democratic parties, as small, conservative counties push back against statewide edicts passed by big-city politicians,” Reuters reports.

“If they want to have their own laws, that’s fine. Don’t shove them on us down here,” Effingham County, Illinois board member Dave Campbell said.

The effort is growing into other states as the defiant sheriffs are sharing effective strategies with one another and with new movements in other states, Reuters reports:

Backers of the sanctuary movement say they want to take it nationwide. Leaders in all four states where it has taken hold have formed a loose alliance, sometimes sharing strategies or texts of resolutions. They also say they are talking with like-minded activists in California, New York, Iowa and Idaho.

As it grows, the rebellion is setting up a potential clash between state and local officials.

Hb1553 I think it is, a bill to limit home rule, really is pushing it. They surely do not think that they can overrule the will of the people without creating huge problems. Since our County has already passed a Santuary status, how can they retroactively cancel our vote?

No. Illinois will be a test case to see if a Police State can be effectively enforced and succeed. We will be the first to be disarmed and subjugated or destroyed. The rest will follow depending on how it all goes.

If SHALL ILLINOIS BECOME A POLICE STATE appears on a ballot I could see the majority voting yes. they always vote for whatever makes things worse and more expensive.

I don't think Illinois started the "Sanctuary County" movement but I have not kept track of who's on first.

We can help determine where it goes if we keep contacting our county boards, Sheriffs, and SA office letting them know we want our rights defended.

Agreed. My brother is petitioning our local Sheriff and associated folks to declare our county a sanctuary county. I'm supporting him but we'll see how it goes since Illinois is contemplating making a law against counties declaring themselves as sanctuary and not prosecuting laws that infringe on the 2A.

There's a big fight coming and it's coming to a State and County near you so stay tuned. Until these bills become laws it's just going to be rhetorical.

That's excellent !!! We need to really keep waking people up and getting them to get on board showing support for our sheriffs and SA and letting them know they need to do this to get our votes.
