  1. Just to clarify my experience getting this for my 7 year old daughter last year. She did not have a state ID. This is a better deal as you pay $10 for a 10 year ID vs $10 for a 5 year state ID. Not to mention all the benefits of having the FOID. I believe if the minor currently has a state ID you can do it over the web access portal. Otherwise you have to call the ISP number and do the application over the phone for a minor. The number is: 217-782-7980. Once you speak with an agent, they will take the necessary information and then mail you two separate items. One will be the FOID application which will have a spot for a parent (as the sponsor) to sign as well as the applicant. The second form is a minor affidavit form. Again, the parent (as the sponsor) will need to sign this and have it notarized. They will take the payment initially over the phone as well. If you do not have a state ID, you will need to include a picture to use as well. I used a passport photo for my daughter which was taken at Walgreens. Once complete, send them back to the address on the envelope and wait. I think it took a 2-3 weeks for it to come for her. Hope that helps!
  2. Yes, you can. Here are the steps I posted to get my 7 year old daughter her card: (Information from this thread) http://illinoiscarry...showtopic=69822 Scipio24, on 25 Aug 2018 - 7:18 PM, said: So basically if you have a license they should have that information on file and you can use that for your picture (though you'll still have to send something in I believe). Since you're a minor, you do have to call. You may need to have your parent/guardian call...not sure. When you do call, eventually you'll get on hold (not that extremely busy line where it disconnects you) and then you'll get a person. Follow the advice above and you're good to go. Complete application over phone, sign what they send, mail it back and you'll be set.
  3. When I changed my address, my issue date changed on my FOID but my expiration date stayed the same. That's my guess on what happened here.
  4. In addition to the points mentioned by InterestedBystander, the FOID is a state issued ID that is good for 10 years. The cost is $10. A state issued ID from the DMV is $10 but only lasts for 5 years.
  5. Hi, I JUST applied for my daughter (age 7). She does not currently have a state ID. This is a better deal as you pay $10 for a 10 year ID vs $10 for a 5 year state ID. Not to mention all the benefits of having the FOID. I believe if the minor currently has a state ID you can do it over the web access portal. Once you speak with an agent, they will take the necessary information and then mail you two separate items. One will be the FOID application which will have a spot for his mother (as the sponsor) to sign as well as the applicant. If the applicant cannot sign, you will need to send a birth certificate, I believe. The second form is a minor affidavit form. His mother (as the sponsor) will need to sign this and have it notarized. They will take the payment initially over the phone as well. If you do not have a state ID, you will need to include a picture to use as well. I used a passport photo for my daughter which was taken at Walgreens. Once complete, send them back to the address on the envelope and wait....that's the part I am at so I can't give you my experience on time to completion, but should be the 30 day window...should be.... I literally dropped it in the mail this morning so I'm hoping to have it in a month. Hope that helps! Edit: clarified that his mother is the sponsor and not you.
  6. I moved about a year ago and got my FOID address updated as well early last summer. If I remember, it took around 6 weeks for everything to get done. Getting my CCL after was a faster process overall, LOL.
  7. When did you apply, and did you submit prints? 08/20 - Applied (with prints) 08/28 - QC Verified 09/15 - Approved 09/25 - Active Received the physical license in the mail a few days after (4 I think).
  8. Sorry for the confusion, no. I used the vernacular of "Wally walk" (quotes included) to mean my inaugural walk while concealing. Though I did go to Wal-mart later that day to buy ammo
  9. Yay!! My license came in the mail today. 3 days after it was issued. I did my "Wally walk" by actually carrying to go pick up my new gun!
  10. I'm in a similar boat as you as I am at "Approved" and waiting to be active. I went Approved on 09/15. Tomorrow will be 30 days since I applied so I'm hoping it will pop active any day...the wait is killing me haha.
