  1. Great Guns Armory in Plainfield stopped doing transfers quite a while ago as I posted after speaking to Paul. I've been trying to get a hold of him via phone and email for many weeks with no response. I get a recording when I call the number and zero response to my emails. I can't say for sure, but I'm going to assume he's completely out of business at this point. If that's the case, it's a darn shame. He's a nice fella and a talented smith. If I'm incorrect please feel free to correct me in this thread.
  2. Thank you Molly B. I haven't had much to say lately, but I still stop by to read IC a few times a week. Hope everyone here is doing well.
  3. Tom had a live stream on YT tonight in case anyone wanted to watch.
  4. Thanks for the update Upholder. That stinks, but it went as Mr. D. thought it might after Caulkins. I still regret not being a plantiff. Dumb move on my part. Sorry guys. Geeze we need some positive news
  5. Hey Steve, Lol, why am I not the least bit surprised by your threads opening post? The only thing I have doubts on is the fact that JB may wait for the next big shooting to get the ball rolling on this. Frankly I expect it as soon as registration is over. I'm so frustrated with everything that's been going on in Springfield. I really wanna up and move ASAP. The problem is, all the homes we've been looking at in free states have gone up so much more than our home here it's silly. Ours has gone up nicely, so I'm not complaining, (except for the ridiculous real estate taxes we pay) At first it looked like we were actually going to get some good bang for our buck in Tn. or Ky. That's simply no longer the case. Home prices where we've been looking have skyrocketed. The real estate taxes down in both states are so inexpensive compared to here, it's mind blowing. I had a lot of confidence in the fact that we would prevail based on logical Constitutional law. So far I've been dead wrong on all counts. I'm not sure where Mr. Tom Devore and his clients stand now. I did hear him mention that since the Il. Supreme Court ruled on Caulkins, his stay could be stopped at any moment, per his own words. Anyway, I hope all you folks are healthy and doing well. Have a good week ahead all. Frustrated and crusty old guy JDW
  6. Armed Scholar, also a YouTube Pro 2A lawyer says the same thing in a video he released today.
  7. Oops, mods, I added a second thread about this, would you mind deleting it for me. I didn't see Todd's post here. Thank you
  8. The class is basically a very shortened version of the 16 hour initial class. After doing the 30 round shooting deal, we went to a "classroom" The instructor went over every area they covered in the initial classes, only it was way consolidated. There was a handout that covered the topics and he took questions before the class ended. It was quite extensive with great and important stuff gone over and the questions asked covered some weird situations that "could" happen. All in all, I'd say it was well worth the money and always good to get a refresher. The new card has no dates, looks like a FOID, but has a CCL box which is checked indicating I'm good to go. I know the exact date of mine from looking at the ISP site and they may have included the expiry in the envelope with the card??? Sorry I couldn't offer more info, but that's what I got.
  9. I took my CCL renewal class in June. Then I waited until the day my CCL was expiring to do an online renewal. My wife asked why I waited until the last minute. I told her, I've been busy. LOL The look on her face was priceless. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? I did print out my ecard, so I got that going for me.
  10. boy howdy, Illinois sure is awesome at running simple programs. LOL I was chatting with some guy in YT comments. I had mentioned more government regulations are never and have never been good for any person, product, or business. He asked me why I felt that way about government regulations? Rather than carry that discussion any further, I told him my laptop battery was dying and I'd get back to him when it was charged again. That was 2 months ago. LOL Oh and i don't even have a lap top. You can't pull one over on this old codger.
  11. I use to go to Mega to use the range all the time. I never had a single bad experience. When Pat left to move to Tn., it was still nice, but he was the best.
  12. I really don't like being one of those guys, not by by a long shot, but not only did I not renew, I called them and respectfully asked them to stop sending any and all communications to me in any form. ISRA, like the NRA, needs a complete reboot. We need serious leadership from people that aren't 90 years old. For a while I enjoyed reading Pearson's story time in his emails. I also enjoyed the newspaper they sent. That all changed when they sold us out. I bought a regular Life membership to the NRA, I've respectfully resigned that membership as well. GOA has been blowing up my mailbox with good and important issues that allows me to get in touch with our people in D.C. Granted, Tammy and Richard never reply with anything save for the Dem talking points pre written letters. At least they know I care and won't be voting for them.
  13. Great Guns Armory...Plainfield, Illinoiz No longer doing transfers due to dealer licensing act, but, STILL OPEN for what I've always considered top notch gunsmith work at reasonable pricing. Source: Paul, the owner, who I just got off the phone with.
  14. When I was a kid growing up on the west side of Chicago, every single friend I had carried a switchblade. No one ever used them for anything more than showing their friends. My how times have changed.
