Any way to revamp board features?

Namely the quoted post/replies.

This is the only site I use that uses a chaining(not sure if proper term) of replying to others posts and quoting them. I can actually see why no other forums utilize it.

Once the back and forth gets too mny replies the post gets an error that too many quotes are included. That in turn makes people have to get creative by removing brackets or something else. The result is either a jumbled mess of hard to read garble or what appears to be one member making the entire quoted post.

Any way to make it simpler to where it only uotes the user of that reply and any reply he/she quoted will not train onto it?

Would mke things a lot simpler, cleaner and more user friendly.

The Firing Line lets you chain quotes if you want - but you have a lot more control over it. You sort of have a clipboard of quotes that you can cache. And they offer a feature where if you highlight any section of characters from someone else's post you can make a direct reply to just that word, sentence or paragraph. So they have a couple of different tools and its more versatile... But I think they use ZenForo now...

Whenever I use an apostrophe in TapaTalk it comes out as â so when I say "the left's" it shows up as "the leftâs" - I think it still makes sense though somehow...
Are you on an Apple phone?

I subscribe to another board where apostrophes in Tapatalk turn into question marks.

They work fine for me, though.. on Android, Galaxy S8.

The strange characters are probably because your Tapatalk is sending Unicode characters or is using characters out of the normal Ascii range... don't blame the board, blame Tapatalk. The board is merely posting what is received.

Ah contraire, they've been being "vamped" for many years now...

How often have we been told they're switching to new servers/software?

Not sure what the currently installed vs available version of board software is. My impression is it is several years old and had plenty of spit, bailing wire and chewing gum applied to date.

Whether it be avatars, image posting, file attachments, the board just hanging, improved search function, https, etc...it could use a refresh. Not something easy and will no doubt bring some pain.

Not long ago there were mentions of testing the new version. Maybe we could get an update on that? Any chance there will be an opportunity to beta test it before it goes live to get some extra feedback?

The forum was limited to 3 nested quotes several years ago. Before that it wasn't unusual for a single group of quotes to take most of the page and make the thread almost impossible to follow.

Sometimes including the 2 or 3 quotes is necessary for clarity, sometimes not. Users can delete the extras before posting if they aren't needed.

I've been wondering why the "View New Content" feature doesn't work anymore. I used to get right to it. Now it always says "No new content".

There are filters along the left side of the new content page that might be limiting what you see. If you checked "Just Items I Follow" and haven't followed any topics, for example, you won't see anything.

I usually use "Past Year" and none of the "Other" categories.

If there was an easy way to delete a single quote it wouldn't be an issue. But trying to find the brackets to a specific quote isn't simple on mobile devices. Trying to highlight and delete the text while scrolling etc.

There is a multiquote feature that is much simpler to do, can reply to each reply individually with separate quotes highlighted.

I have given up trying to respond to a particular post so many times I can't count them due to too many quotes.

Others that do get nested(thanks for the term) get replies mixed into the quoted body and the ones that do get replied to correctly I doubt many reread the entire ongoing converstaion within the quote before reading the reply.

Only my opinion, and thought I would opine it lol

Thanks for all you do, even if this will not change in the near term.
